Summer is often a bit slow when it comes to new British TV shows, but BritBox's August schedule has some real gems – including a new mystery series, Good Ship Murder. Keep reading for the full schedule with descriptions.

August 1st Premieres

The Change premieres August 1st

The Change, Season 1 (2023)

Comedian Bridget Christie is both the writer and the star of this menopause dramedy. At 50, Linda (Christie) is a working-class mother of two experiencing an existential crisis as she goes through menopause. Setting off on a Triump motorbike she hasn't used in decades, she leaves her family and heads to the Forest of Dean to get in touch with part of herself she'd lost. In her new and isolated community, she gets to know a couple of eel-farming sisters and a man who lives alone with a wild boar. 6 episode binge premiere.

August 2nd Premieres

My King Charles premieres August 2nd

My King Charles (2023)

This documentary offers unique insights into the life of the new King Charles, from his childhood years to his troubled relationships to his lengthy preparation for the position he now holds. It includes previously unseen letters and photographs, along with input from many who've been close to him over the course of his life. One hour-long episode.

August 5th Premieres

Good Ship Murder premieres August 5th

Good Ship Murder, Season 1

Set on a Mediterranean cruise ship, this crime drama follows Jack Grayling, a retired detective-turned cabaret singer who (of course) encounters murders that only he can solve. With the help of the ship's First Officer, Kate Woods, he sings his way around the Mediterranean, solving crime as it arises. 8 episode binge premiere.

August 6th Premieres

Killing Eve

Killing Eve, Seasons 3 & 4

Based on the “Villanelle” novels by Luke Jennings, this fun spy thriller stars Sandra Oh (Grey’s Anatomy) as Eve Polastri, a bored MI5 security officer whose life takes a strange turn when she becomes obsessed with tracking down a psychopathic assassin named Villanelle, played by Jodie Comer (The White Princess).

Eve’s cat-and-mouse pursuit of Villanelle takes her across Europe, sniffing out a trail of espionage, deceit, and murder. As Eve continues the hunt, she finds herself dangerously drawn to the charming but deadly Villanelle. 

The following seasons will premiere in August:

  • Season 3 – August 6th
  • Season 4 (FINAL) – August 13th

August 8th Premieres

Dying for Revenge, Season 1 (2023)

This true crime series features shocking stories of crimes intended to be acts of revenge. Though the preceding events are different in each case, they all follow the same trajectory – someone is wronged, and that leads to a murder. Each story is told with interviews with family and friends, insights from detectives who solved the cases case, and analysis from expert criminologists. 8 episodes will air all at once.

August 15th Premieres

Granite Harbour returns for season 2 on August 15th

Granite Harbour, Season 2

Lindo (Romario Simpson, Andor), Bart (Hannah Donaldson, Irvine Welsh’s Crime) and the rest of the Aberdeen-based team investigate two cases that plunge the Major Investigations Team into the depths of the granite city’s criminal underworld. When drug kingpin Grace McFadden’s (Lesley Hart, River City) fixer is murdered, the MIT will find themselves struggling to locate the source of a new cocaine and ketamine compound flooding the local market. Fearing a turf war brewing, the team fights to uncover the truth. 3-episode binge premiere.

Monty Don's American Gardens premieres August 16th

Monty Don's American Gardens, Season 1

This three-part series follows Monty Don on a journey around the US as he experiences the wide variety of landscapes and gardens the country has to offer. From prairies in full bloom and community gardens in New York to the deserts and redwoods of the West Coast, the series offers a view of the US we don't often see in travel shows. Binge premiere.

August 20th Premieres

The White Princess

The White Princess (2017)

Based on the Philippa Gregory book of the same name, this miniseries tells the story of Elizabeth of York and her marriage to Henry VII. It’s the sequel to The White Queen. 8 hour-long episodes, binge premiere.

August 22nd Premieres

Avoidance returns for season 2 August 22nd

Avoidance, Season 2

After his marriage ended, the chronically irresponsible Jonathan (Romesh Ranganathan, The Ranganation) moved in with his sister Dan (Mandeep Dhillon, The City & The City), her wife Courtney (Lisa McGrillis, Mum), and his son Spencer. Life is chaotic, and things are getting worse: Dan and Courtney are expecting a baby, Claire (Jessica Knappett, Drifters) has a new boyfriend, and Jonathan is trying everything to win her back, from cycling to stage performances. Will he succeed? And will Dan and Courtney be ready for the baby? Six episode binge premiere.

Informer (2018)

Paddy Considine (Peaky Blinders) stars as DS Gabe Waters, a counterterrorism officer for the fictional Counter-Terrorism Special Unit. As he struggles to get intelligence from within the Pakistani community, he recruits a young man named Raza (Nabhaan Rizwan) as an informer. As the two work together, Gabe deals with a dark past he'd like to keep hidden, Raza finds himself in increasing danger, and Gabe's ambitious new partner Holly (Bel Powley, Murderland) has a curiosity that might put all three of them in danger. Six episode binge premiere.
