New Shows Coming to BritBox (US) in May 2026

May 1st Premieres

Bridget Jones's Diary premieres May 1st

Bridget Jones's Diary (2001 film)

In this romantic comedy, Bridget Jones (Renée Zellweger, Chicago) is a London journalist trying to sort out her habits, her career, and her love life while feeling increasingly out of place among the settled couples around her. Deciding to make a fresh start, she begins keeping a diary that records her efforts to improve herself, along with the many ways those plans go off course.

As Bridget tries to take control of her life, she finds herself caught between two very different men: her charming but unreliable boss Daniel (Hugh Grant, Love Actually) and the more reserved Mark (Colin Firth, The King’s Speech), whose presence becomes harder to ignore than she expects. US-only premiere.

Twenty Twenty Six premieres May 1st

Twenty Twenty Six (2026)

This comedy follows Ian Fletcher (Hugh Bonneville, Downton Abbey), the relentlessly upbeat administrator previously seen in Twenty Twelve and W1A, as he takes on the logistical chaos of an enormous international football tournament. With matches spread across three host nations and a global audience watching, he is once again tasked with keeping an unwieldy operation from falling apart.

Created by John Morton (Twenty Twelve, W1A), the series uses the tournament setup to satirize modern management, public relations, and institutional optimism. As ever, Ian approaches one complication after another with confidence that rarely seems matched by the circumstances around him. North American binge premiere.

May 6th Premieres

The Other Bennet Sister premieres May 6th

The Other Bennet Sister (2026)

This period drama centers on Mary Bennet, the often-overlooked middle sister from Pride and Prejudice, imagining what happens when she begins to move beyond the role assigned to her within the family. Ella Bruccoleri (Ludwig, Call the Midwife) stars as Mary, whose search for a more independent life takes her from Meryton to Regency London and the Lake District.

As Mary steps out from her sisters’ shadow, the series follows her efforts to define herself on her own terms, while also drawing her into an unexpected romance. North American premiere with three episodes released initially, followed by weekly releases for the other seven episodes.

May 11th Premieres

I Literally Just Told You returns May 11th

I Literally Just Told You, Season 3

Hosted by Jimmy Carr, this British game show turns the usual quiz format on its head by asking contestants questions about things they have only just been told during the episode. Rather than relying mainly on general knowledge, players have to pay close attention to what has just happened in the studio, with facts, jokes, and offhand remarks all potentially becoming part of the game. North American binge premiere.

May 20th Premieres

Howards End premieres May 20th

Howards End (2017)

This adaptation of Howards End follows two sisters, Margaret and Helen Schlegel, as their lives become closely tied to two very different families in Edwardian England. Matthew Macfadyen (Succession, Pride & Prejudice) and Hayley Atwell (Rivals, Paddington in Peru) star in a story shaped by class, family, inheritance, and changing social expectations. US-only premiere, four episode binge.

May 25th Premieres

QI returns on May 25th

QI, Season W

This long-running comedy quiz show mixes panel game chaos with obscure facts, wordplay, and deliberately tricky questions. Hosted by Sandi Toksvig (No 73) with Alan Davies (Jonathan Creek) as the regular panelist, each episode brings together a changing group of guests to tackle topics that often lead in unexpected directions.

In Series W, the format remains much the same, with new and returning comedians taking on subjects ranging from the weird and wonderful to language, people, and assorted oddities. Much of the appeal comes from the banter as much as the answers, with points often lost for the obvious response and awarded for the less expected one. North American binge premiere.
