BritBox, PBS Masterpiece, and Acorn TV provide most of the new British TV shows streaming each month – but there are another 5-10 services that semi-consistently offer new British TV premieres, and it can be hard to keep track of who has them and when they're coming out. To help, we put this list together each month to make it easy to locate shows which:

  • Premiered in the UK or Ireland within the last year or two
  • Are expected to make their Stateside premiere in February 2025

Funny Woman returns February 2nd

Funny Woman, Season 2

Season 2 of this award-winning 1960s-set comedy follows Sophie Straw (Gemma Arterton, The King’s Man, Summerland) as she navigates fame, friendship, and a promising romance with Dennis (Arsher Ali, Avenue 5, The Fear Index). With new opportunities come new challenges, forcing Sophie to confront expectations on and off-screen.

Based on Nick Hornby’s Funny Girl, the returning cast includes Alistair Petrie, David Threlfall, Rosie Cavaliero, Alexa Davies, Matthew Beard, Leo Bill, and Clare-Hope Ashitey. New cast members include Steve Zissis, Marcus Rutherford, Tim Key, Gemma Whelan, and Roisin Conaty.

When Margaret’s sister and her husband Glyn (Richard Harrington, Silent Witness) go on holiday, Clive agrees to cat-sit. One night, he and Margaret sneak over for a drink, but when Glyn unexpectedly returns, Margaret, startled and unaware it’s him, reacts on impulse—striking him with a bottle and killing him. What follows is a chain of missteps, cover-ups, and bizarre events that spiral far beyond their control.

Celebrity Bear Hunt premieres February 5th

Philomena Cunk (Diane Morgan, Motherland) returns for a one-off comedy special in which she tackles complex topics like nihilism, hedonism, quantum physics, morals, the Big Bang, and artificial intelligence. As she seeks answers about some of life's big questions, she looks to some of the world's foremost thinkers and creators, mangling and misinterpreting their genius as she goes.

Premiered February 5th on Netflix.

Fortress Britain with Alice Roberts

Alice Roberts, Danielle George, and Onyeka Nubia explore Britain’s long-standing fixation with invasion, uncovering the fears that have shaped its history. Using their expertise and a mix of historical sources, they trace the nation’s defensive strategies—from Tudor-era fortifications and warships to the Home Guard’s secret plans for a Nazi invasion. Along the way, they visit key sites that reveal how Britain has prepared for threats, both real and imagined, across the centuries.

Premiered February 6th on BBC Select.

Breaking Dad premieres February 10th

Breaking Dad: Britain's Unlikeliest Drug Dealer (2024)

Richard Lubbock was a mild-mannered North London family man—until he became Britain’s biggest meth dealer. Based on his son James’s memoir Breaking Dad, this two-part documentary unravels the true story of how he traded a comfortable life for the high-stakes world of drug trafficking, just as meth was infiltrating London’s club scene in the early 2000s. As his operation grew, so did the risks, leading to an inevitable confrontation with law enforcement. Blending firsthand accounts with police insights, the series uncovers the rise and fall of an unlikely criminal in a story that is shocking, extraordinary, and entirely true.

This Time Next Year

Based on the New York Times bestseller This Time Next Year by Sophie Cousens, this romantic comedy follows Minnie Cooper (Sophie Cookson, Kingsman: The Secret Service) and Quinn Hamilton (Lucien Laviscount, Emily in Paris), born just one minute apart on the same day, in the same hospital. Their lives take wildly different paths—until fate reunites them years later. As their connection deepens, they must decide whether to take a chance on love.

Premiered February 10th on Roku Channel.

Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy

Renée Zellweger (Judy, Cold Mountain) returns as Bridget Jones in a new romantic comedy-drama. Now a single mother after the loss of Mark Darcy (Colin Firth, The King’s Speech), Bridget raises her children with help from friends and ex-lover Daniel Cleaver (Hugh Grant, Four Weddings and a Funeral).

Encouraged to start dating again, she navigates work, romance, and motherhood while dealing with judgmental school mums and her son’s serious-minded teacher (Chiwetel Ejiofor, 12 Years a Slave). Also starring Sally Phillips, Shirley Henderson, James Callis, Sarah Solemani, Gemma Jones, Emma Thompson, and Leo Woodall.

Premieres February 13th on Peacock.

My Fault: London

My Fault: London (2025 feature film)

Following the success of Culpa mía, this British remake adapts Mercedes Ron’s bestselling novel My Fault. Starring Asha Banks (A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder) and Matthew Broome (The Buccaneers), the romantic drama follows 18-year-old Noah (Banks), who moves to London when her mother (Eve Macklin, Brooklyn) marries wealthy William (Ray Fearon, Barbie).

There, she meets her rebellious stepbrother Nick (Broome), and their undeniable attraction complicates her new life. As Noah navigates friendships and a forbidden romance, her estranged father—recently released from prison—begins tracking her every move. Also starring Enva Lewis, Jason Flemyng, Kerim Hassan, Sam Buchanan, Amelia Kenworthy, and Harry Gilby.

Premieres February 13th on Prime Video.

The Gorge

In this new thriller, elite operatives Levi (Miles Teller, The Offer, Too Old to Die Young) and Drasa (Anya Taylor-Joy, The Queen’s Gambit, Peaky Blinders) are stationed in opposing guard towers, tasked with protecting the world from an unknown force hidden within a vast, classified gorge. As they form a bond across the divide, they remain on high alert against an unseen enemy. When the true nature of the threat is revealed, they must push their limits—both physically and mentally—to contain it before it’s too late. Also starring Sigourney Weaver (Alien), Sope Dirisu (Gangs of London), and William Houston (The Salisbury Poisonings).

Best Interests premieres February 17th

Best Interests (2023)

Andrew (Michael Sheen, Good Omens, Frost/Nixon) and Nicci (Sharon Horgan, Catastrophe, Bad Sisters) are faced with an unthinkable decision when doctors determine that further treatment for their critically ill daughter is no longer in her best interest. As they fight for her life, their struggle turns into a legal battle with profound consequences. Also starring Niamh Moriarty (Jack Thorne’s A Christmas Carol), Alison Oliver (Saltburn), and Lisa McGrillis (Maternal, Mum).

Episodes will premiere in February as follows:

  • February 17th, Episode 1 – As Marnie’s health deteriorates, doctors say it's in her best interests to stop care; defiant, her parents pledge to fight
    their decision.
  • February 24th, Episode 2 – Nicci and Andrew fail to make a decision with Samantha and The Hospital board, the next step is mediation, the pair start to disagree with Marnie's future.

The final two episodes will follow in March (new episodes on Mondays).

A Cruel Love premieres February 17th

A Cruel Love: The Ruth Ellis Story (2025)

This true crime drama reveals the hidden story of Ruth Ellis, the last woman to be executed in Britain, set against the backdrop of 1955 London club culture. Ruth (Lucy Boynton, Why Didn’t They Ask Evans?), a rising star in the city’s nightlife scene, became the youngest club manager at just 28. Her success was short-lived, though, as she soon found herself trapped in an abusive relationship with racing driver David Blakely (Laurie Davidson, Mary & George). When she stood trial for his murder, the justice system condemned her for far more than her crime.

Premieres February 17th on BritBox, with new episodes airing weekly through March 3rd.

 

Death in Paradise returns February 19th

A Thousand Blows

A Thousand Blows (2025)

From Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders, Rogue Heroes) comes a new period drama set in 1880s London, inspired by real stories of survival. Hezekiah (Malachi Kirby, Small Axe, Black Mirror) and his friend Alec (Francis Lovehall, Criminal Record) arrive from Jamaica and are pulled into the brutal world of illegal boxing in the East End. There, they cross paths with Mary Carr (Erin Doherty, The Crown), leader of the all-female gang The Forty Elephants, and criminal kingpin Sugar Goodson (Stephen Graham, Boiling Point), sparking a dangerous rivalry.

The twelve-episode series also stars Jemma Carlton, Ned Dennehy, Ziggy Heath, Daniel Mays, James Nelson-Joyce, and Jason Tobin.

Premieres February 21st on Hulu.

This quirky collection includes the following short films: “Room Taken”, “One Note Man” starring Jason Watkins (The Crown, Des) and the voice of Ian McKellen (The Lord of the Rings films), “Edith” starring Peter Mullan (The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power), Sound and Colour, “In Too Deep” starring Rachel Shenton (All Creatures Great & Small), “Cantata”, and “Gerry” starring Joan Collins (Dynasty).

  • Cantata (IE) – Fionn Foley (The Dry) stars as Darren, whose anxieties take on a bizarre form—manifesting as grand operatic hallucinations. Desperate for a quick fix, he turns to therapy, only to realize that sometimes, finding harmony means confronting the noise in his own mind.
  • Edith (UK) – Peter Mullan (Payback, Mum) and Michelle Fairley (Gangs of London, Game of Thrones) lead this poignant drama about the struggles of growing old. As they navigate grief, regrets, and the weight of the past, they must also search for meaning in the present and rediscover what makes life worth living.
  • Gerry (UK) – Joan Collins (Dynasty) stars as Hilda, a woman facing the quiet loneliness of old age. Sorting through her late husband’s belongings, she stumbles upon a buried secret that forces her to confront the life she left behind—and consider a future she never thought possible.
  • In Too Deep (UK) – Rachel Shenton (All Creatures Great & Small) and Stephen Wight (Screw) star in this unsettling drama about a grieving father who turns to A.I. technology to recreate memories of his late daughter.   • Room Taken (IE) – Isaac (Gabriel Adewusi, North Sea Connection) arrives in Ireland searching for a place to stay and secretly moves into the home of Victoria (Bríd Brennan, Hope Street), an elderly blind woman. What begins as an act of quiet desperation turns into an unexpected bond between two unlikely housemates.
  • Sound and Colour (IE) – Hannah (Alison Oliver, Saltburn) returns home after a suicide attempt, forced to confront the emotional barriers within her dysfunctional family. Toxic Town
