The new year will be here before you know it – and with it, loads of new British TV shows. Below, we take a look at the schedule (with descriptions).

January 1st Premieres

Gavin & Stacey

Gavin & Stacey:  A Fond Farewell (2024)

This hour-long special takes us behind the scenes of the beloved British sitcom’s final episode, offering an access-all-areas look through the eyes of the cast, crew, and fans. Told alongside the filming of the last-ever episode, it’s a heartfelt celebration of the show’s cultural impact, featuring exclusive insight from creators James Corden (The Late Late Show) and Ruth Jones (Stella), tracing the series from its creation to its emotional conclusion.

January 2nd Premieres

BRENDA BLETHYN as Vera Stanhope.

Vera, Series 14 (The Final Season)

Brenda Blethyn returns to the role of DCI Vera Stanhope in two final episodes. In the first, she investigates the body of a young man found on the Tyne, uncovering a web of broken relationships, secret love, grudges, and fraud. Was it cold justice or something deeper?

The final episode takes Vera back to familiar ground as she investigates the death of a bright young student near The Dark Wives. With memories of her childhood surfacing, Vera unravels a mystery that blends past and present in a poignant and emotional farewell.

January 3rd Premieres

Peep Show

Peep Show

Peep Show follows the painfully awkward lives of flatmates Mark (David Mitchell) and Jeremy (Robert Webb), two polar opposites navigating adulthood in London. Mark, an uptight office worker with a penchant for overthinking, and Jeremy, a lazy aspiring musician with zero ambition, clash frequently as they bumble through relationships, work disasters, and social mishaps. Olivia Colman (Broadchurch) also stars. Seasons 3-7 roll out in January as follows:

  • January 3rd: Season 3 – 6 30-minute episodes
  • January 10th: Season 4 – 6 30-minute episodes
  • January 17th: Season 5 – 6 30-minute episodes
  • January 24th: Season 6 – 6 30-minute episodes
  • January 31st: Season 7 – 4 30-minute episodes

January 14th Premieres

Professor Jane Monckton-Smith, Criminologist

The Murder of Sandra Rivett (2024)

This feature-length documentary takes a look back at the case of Lord Lucan, the British peer who famously disappeared after his children's nanny was murdered. 

January 22nd Premieres

Captivated

Captivated (aka Too Good to Be True in the UK), 2024

Rachel (Kara Tointon, Archie), a single mother struggling to support her son Liam (Charlie Hodson-Prior, Dune: Prophecy), accepts an offer to work exclusively for Elliot (Allen Leech, Downton Abbey), a wealthy businessman. The job promises better pay and fewer hours, but Elliot's behavior soon becomes controlling. As Rachel investigates his past, she uncovers a troubling secret that explains his obsession, forcing her to confront unexpected dangers to protect her family. Binge premiere of 4 hour-long episodes.

January 23rd Premieres

Father Brown returns for season 12 on the 23rd

Father Brown, Season 12

Mark Williams (Harry Potter, Midsomer Murders) returns as Father Brown, the sleuthing clergyman created by GK Chesterton. After the proposal in series 11, Kembleford is alive with wedding plans (we'll avoid spoilers in case you're not caught up). Unfortunately , chaos ensues when the groom’s father arrives, and Mrs. Devine is accused of murder. With a Tudor re-enactment death, a Vatican mission, and Flambeau's return, Father Brown faces new challenges—and a lurking nemesis.

Returning alongside Mark Williams as Father Brown are Claudie Blakley as Mrs. Devine, Tom Chambers as Chief Inspector Sullivan, John Burton as Sergeant Goodfellow, Ruby-May Martinwood as Brenda, and John Light as Flambeau. Ten 45-minute episodes, airing weekly.

Undercover (2016)

Maya (Sophie Okonedo, Hotel Rwanda), a top London barrister poised to become the first black Director of Public Prosecutions, faces intense public scrutiny as she uncovers a devastating secret: her husband Nick (Adrian Lester, Staged) has been lying to her for 20 years. Meanwhile, Maya fights to save Rudy Jones (Dennis Haysbert, Lucifer), a wrongly convicted black man on death row in America. As her career-defining case and personal life collide, Maya unravels a web of corruption spanning the police, press, and politicians. Six episode binge premiere.
