Incredibly, we're looking at the last month of BritBox's offerings for 2025 already (wasn't it just January the other day?) – and as you might expect, the list includes a number of Christmas specials (and we wouldn't be surprised if they added more at a later date, as they've sometimes done in the past).

Mrs. Brown's Boys, Season 5
Brendan O’Carroll (Angela’s Ashes) once again plays the outspoken matriarch at the center of this multi-award-winning sitcom, set in the Dublin suburb of Finglas. Agnes Brown spends her days interfering in the affairs of her six children and various friends, sparking a steady stream of cheeky jokes and broad physical comedy.
Originating from a sell-out stage production written by and starring O’Carroll as the domineering head of the household, the TV adaptation has gone on to collect major awards and a devoted audience. Members of O’Carroll’s own family also appear, including his wife Jennifer Gibney (Mrs. Brown’s Boys D’Movie) as Cathy. Four half-hour episodes will be released at a rate of two episodes each week.

Save Me (2018 to 2020)
Lennie James (Line of Duty, The Walking Dead) stars as Nelson “Nelly” Rowe, a charming but unreliable drifter whose life is turned upside down when he’s accused of abducting Jody (Indeyarna Donaldson-Holness, EastEnders), the teenage daughter he has barely seen in thirteen years. Across two series, his obsessive search for her drags him into a dangerous underworld, strains old friendships, and forces him to confront the consequences of his past choices as a father and partner. As time passes and new clues surface, the story follows Nelly and those around him through false leads, risky decisions, and emotional reckonings, exploring how the attempt to find a missing child becomes a quest for personal redemption.
Both seasons will be released on December 18th, and each season has six hour-long episodes.

Motherland Christmas Special: 2020
Amanda’s (Lucy Punch, Doc Martin) once-a-year Christmas bash – complete with towering tree, “evil Santa,” Anne’s (Philippa Dunne, Derry Girls) potent cocktails and strict rules about where mulled wine may be consumed – is the social event everyone at the school gate is trying to survive. Officially, only Meg (Tanya Moodie, The Change) is invited, but Julia (Anna Maxwell Martin, Ludwig), Kevin (Paul Ready, Bodyguard) and Liz (Diane Morgan, Cunk on Earth) tag along as her extra guests, painfully aware they’re not part of the alpha-parent inner circle. For Julia, the party offers a brief escape from acting as unpaid Christmas staff for her in-laws, while Liz does her best to pretend the holiday isn’t happening at all and Kevin wears himself out cooking, wrapping and decorating for everyone around him. One half hour episode.
Motherland Christmas Special: 2022
With school finished for the holidays, the mums – plus Kevin (Paul Ready, Bodyguard) – are preparing for a chaotic blended Christmas. Julia (Anna Maxwell Martin, Ludwig) has a house full of grandparents demanding endless cups of tea while they play with the VR headset Paul (Oliver Chris, Rivals) insists he bought “for the kids.” After learning Kevin’s alternative is turkey crisps from a hotel vending machine with other divorced dads, she invites him to join them, and he offers to cook a full Persian-style feast. Liz (Diane Morgan, Cunk on Earth) also ends up at Julia’s when her ex falls asleep on a train after a big Christmas Eve night out and misses his first chance to host. Meanwhile, Amanda (Lucy Punch, Doc Martin) spends the day with Johnny (Terry Mynott, Murder, They Hope), their children and Johnny’s new wife Tamara (Louise Delamere, Holby City), insisting she’s absolutely fine with the new festive set-up. One half hour episode.
Mrs. Brown's Boys Christmas Special 2024
Accused of being perpetually grumpy during the holidays, Agnes Brown (Brendan O’Carroll, Angela’s Ashes) decides to prove she’s the embodiment of Christmas cheer and launches a full-scale charm offensive – even if Christmas Week isn’t the ideal time to reinvent herself. As her daughter focuses on saving the world, Granddad (Dermot O’Neill, Mrs. Brown’s Boys D’Movie) grows a little too close to flirtatious neighbour Birdy (June Rodgers, The Clinic), and an escaped convict is mistaken for a paying lodger, triggering an accidental hostage situation. With chaos mounting on all sides, it falls to Dermot (Paddy Houlihan, Mrs. Brown’s Boys D’Movie) and Buster (Danny O’Carroll, Mrs. Brown’s Boys D’Movie) to sort things out. Two 30-minute episodes.
December 28th Premieres
Law & Order UK, Seasons 3-5
In seasons 3-5, prosecutors Alesha Phillips (Freema Agyeman, Doctor Who) and Jake Thorne (Dominic Rowan, The Crown) work alongside DS Ronnie Brooks (Bradley Walsh, Coronation Street) and his partners Matt Devlin (Jamie Bamber, Beyond Paradise), Sam Casey (Paul Nicholls, EastEnders) and later Joe (Ben Bailey Smith, The Sixth Commandment) on cases involving missing children, suburban murders, suspicious hospital deaths, a catastrophic train crash and ruthless organised crime. With new DI Wes Leyton (Paterson Joseph, Inside No. 9), barrister Kate Barker (Georgia Taylor, Coronation Street) and CPS chief Henry (Peter Davison, Riot Women) reshaping the team, shifting roles, personal losses and dangerous suspects put their pursuit of justice under constant pressure.
December 30th Premieres
The Widow, Season 1
Three years after her husband Will (Matthew Le Nevez, Love Child) is declared dead following a plane crash in the Congolese jungle, Georgia Wells (Kate Beckinsale, Underworld) leaves her isolated life behind and heads to Kinshasa to investigate what really happened. Still mourning both her marriage and the future she thought they’d share, she’s unable to let go of the possibility that he may have survived – and her search for answers draws her deep into the shadows surrounding his disappearance. Eight hour-long episodes will air all at once.
December 31st Premieres
Gardeners' World Winter Special 2025
Monty Don (Gardeners’ World) is joined by his team to follow the turning of the seasons, highlighting the colour, variety, and changing pleasures of the gardening year.
December Premieres, Date TBD
Death in Paradise. 2025 Christmas Special
On Saint Marie, DI Mervin Wilson (Don Gilet, EastEnders) is still adjusting to island life, chafing at the slow pace after years in London, even though his working relationship with the team has improved since they brought his mother’s killer to justice. What really anchors him there now is the recent discovery of a half-brother – another son of Dorna (Judith Jacob, Holby City) – and the Christmas special sees Mervin finally come face to face with the charming yet oddly opaque Solomon Clarke. While trying to work out why his new relative doesn’t quite ring true, he’s drawn into a puzzling holiday murder that tests both his instincts and this fragile new family connection.
