Acorn TV has announced their lineup for December, and it's looking like a great month for people who prefer lighter mysteries – with new episodes of both Midsomer Murders and Madame Blanc Mysteries ahead.

The Gone, Season 2

When an Irish couple disappears from a remote New Zealand town, visiting detective Theo Richter (Richard Flood, Grey’s Anatomy) teams up with local officer Diana Huia (Acushla-Tara Kupe, Shortland Street) to investigate. What begins as a missing persons case soon stirs up old fears in the community, with whispers of a connection to a string of long-forgotten murders. As the detectives navigate cultural divides and buried local secrets, they uncover far more than they expected in the quiet town of Mount Affinity.

Episodes will air in November as follows:

  • December 1st
    • Episode 5: A convicted criminal linked to the case escapes from prison as Diana and Richter track down their latest suspect.
  • December 8th
    • Episode 6 (FINALE): With Mount Affinity locked down with lead suspect Frank Pastor on the loose, Diana and Richter must solve the case before the Mountain Murderer gets to their next victim.

Neil Morrissey (The Good Karma Hospital) and Martin Clunes (Doc Martin), former co-stars on Men Behaving Badly, reunite for a real-life road trip across France, travelling from Normandy through the Alps to the south as they rekindle their friendship, sample regional food, enjoy the scenery and explore local traditions.

On a remote Scottish island, a down-on-her-luck local (Kelly Macdonald, Boardwalk Empire) is hired to pose as a famous actress (Alice Eve, She’s Out of My League) at a decoy wedding meant to throw the paparazzi off the scent, only for sparks to fly with the bewildered groom (David Tennant, Doctor Who) as the fake ceremony starts to feel a bit too real.

Midsomer Murders, Season 25

In the picture-postcard villages of rural Midsomer, DCI Barnaby (first Tom, played by John Nettles, later his cousin John, played by Neil Dudgeon) tackles a steady stream of elaborate murders with the help of a rotating cast of sergeants. Each feature-length case peels back the polite surface of village life to reveal feuds, secrets, and occasionally inventive methods of murder. New episodes air weekly (4 in total).

  • December 8th: “Treasures of Darkness” — Rival mudlarkers and a jar of human remains pull Barnaby and Winter into a dangerous treasure-hunting feud.
  • December 15th: “Lawn of the Dead” — A lawn-bowling club turns lethal, exposing bitter rivalries, forbidden romances, and tight-lipped teammates.
  • December 22nd: “Death Strikes Three” — A booby-trapped cuckoo clock kills a guest at an engagement party, sending the detectives through a maze of family secrets.
  • December 29th: “Top of the Class” — After a strict headteacher is murdered during a PTA meeting, school scandals and nervous witnesses complicate the hunt for a killer.

Madame Blanc Mysteries

Madame Blanc Mysteries: 2025 Christmas Specials

At an exclusive Christmas Eve event at a museum, Jean (Sally Lindsay, Mount Pleasant) is called on to authenticate a rare box once owned by Marie Antoinette, only to discover a hidden bomb set to detonate in ninety minutes. When Dom (Steve Edge, The Cup) spots a riddle addressed specifically to her beneath the device, she’s plunged into a frantic race to solve the puzzle and find the code before the explosion can occur.

The two-part special will air as follows:

  • December 15th: Part 1 – When asked to verify the purchase of a rare box once owned by Marie Antoinette at a museum event, Jean discovers a bomb inside. With the museum locked and security nowhere in sight, Jean races to find the code before the bomb explodes.
  • December 22nd: Part 2 – With only 20 minutes left on the clock before the bomb detonates, Jean decides to go with their best option—solve the riddle, find the code, and save the day. Meanwhile, with the murderer still in the building, Caron fights his way into the museum.
