For such a small place, the United Kingdom produces an incredible amount of great comedy. We've tried to put together best British comedy lists before, and they always end up getting unbearably long – so we decided to limit ourselves to shows that started after the year 2000 (which is why you won't see classics like Are You Being Served? or Keeping Up Appearances).

We've gathered what we feel are the top 25 British comedies of the post-2000 era, along with details on where you can watch them. If you decide you get one that's only available on DVD, please keep in mind that many of the hard-to-find shows are only available on UK-encoded DVDs. That means you'll need a (relatively cheap) region-free DVD player to watch them. Some computer DVD drives work, too.

The Office – 2001 to 2003 – Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant created this groundbreaking comedy series in which a documentary crew follows the staff in the fictitious Wernham Hogg Paper Company. Also starts Mackenzie Crook of Detectorists fame. Streaming HERE

The Worst Week of My Life – 2004 to 2007 – Ben Miller and Sarah Alexander star in this hilarious and cringe-y comedy about a guy who can't seem to get anything right, and the woman who loves him. S1-3 Streaming HERE | Series 1-3 DVD

Fleabag – 2016 to 1029 – Phoebe Waller-Bridge writes and stars in this edgy comedy about a traumatized young woman trying to make some sense of her life. If you weren't sold on it from Season 1, definitely try the second. Waller-Bridge's writing has matured considerably since S1, and it's much more upbeat and pleasant than the first. Streaming HERE

Still Game – 2002 to present – Scottish pensioners Jack and Victor enjoy complaining about modern life and reminiscing about the good old days in fictional Craiglang. S1-6 DVD | Series 7 DVD | Netflix Streaming

Mrs. Brown's Boys – 2013 to present – The ridiculous ongoing saga of a loud-mouthed Irish woman and all the various ways she meddles in the lives of those around her, especially her 6 children. Series 1-3 DVD
