Acorn TV has just announced their October schedule, and after their announcement about the ‘An Autumn to Die For' mystery lineup, it should come as no surprise that this month is very, very heavy on mystery and crime.

Murder Before Evensong premiered at the end of September

Murder Before Evensong (2025)

Canon Daniel Clement, a quiet village rector played by Matthew Lewis (Harry Potter films, Me Before You), becomes involved in a murder investigation after a local man is found stabbed with a pair of gardening secateurs. When his outspoken mother Audrey arrives unexpectedly, long-buried family tensions resurface just as a deeper crisis unfolds. The victim, a cousin of the church’s patron, forces Daniel to confront secrets hidden beneath the surface of village life. As media attention grows and pressure mounts from his bishop, Daniel begins to wonder who he can trust—and whether he was the real target. Based on the novel Murder Before Evensong by Reverend Richard Coles.

Episodes will air in October as follows: 

  • October 6th
    • Episode 2: As the personal threats against him intensify, Clement digs deeper into Anthony's murder, clashing with DS Vanloo, who disagrees with his methods. A new revelation forces Clement to face the fact that the killer lies within his own congregation.
  • October 13th
    • Episode 3: When Stella witnesses Champton gamekeeper Edgy near Anthony's murder site, Audrey urges Clement to question the man. Believing Ned killed Anthony out of jealousy, Jane reports him to the police. Meanwhile, a body is left floating in the lake.
  • October 20th
    • Episode 4: Clement believes that Anthony and Ned's murders are connected to wartime secrets, but DS Vanloo disagrees. As Vanloo investigates Ned's wife, Jane, Clement angers Bernard and the bishop with his behavior, which worries Audrey.
  • October 27th
    • Episode 5: Disregarding the bunker evidence, Vanloo makes Edgy's grandson, Nathan, his new prime suspect. Meanwhile, Audrey finds out who has been sending Clement threatening letters, and Clement uncovers a false wall hiding the skeleton of a missing spy.

The finale will air in November.

The murders of several young men bring together DCI Jeanette Kilburn, played by Eve Myles (Hijack, Torchwood), and psychotherapist Dr. Sophia Craven, portrayed by Katherine Kelly (The Long Shadow, Protection). Their partnership draws them into a dangerous investigation that uncovers historic abuse and long-concealed violence. Dougray Scott (Vigil, Desperate Housewives) also appears.

Episodes will premiere as follows: 

  • October 6th: 
    • Episode 5, “She Shoots for the King” – Jeanette and Sophia dig into Victoria’s past, as Victoria and Madeleine make plans for the future. Amar takes his fate into his own hands and Jeanette learns a secret that changes everything.
  • October 13th: 
    • Episode 6, “I'll See You There” – As Jeanette’s career hangs in balance, she turns to Sophia for comfort. Victoria arrives at the Burkeman farm ready to confront her past and makes a terrible discovery.
Summertide continues in October

Summertide (2024)

This South African drama follows the Field family across multiple generations, along with those whose lives intersect with theirs. Each character carries hidden motives and personal struggles, revealing the complex ties that bind them over time.

Episodes will premiere as follows:

  • October 6th:
    • Episode 21 – Commodore Anderson shoots a great white shark that washed ashore. Martin accuses Hannes of chumming too close, vowing to halt him. Gavin is shocked by Amina being Martin and Rebecca's child.
    • Episode 22 – Unaware of their relation, Martin and Amina form a bond. Rebecca tries to keep them apart, fearing the truth, but her efforts fail. Jack celebrates Father's Day with his family.
  • October 13th: 
    • Episode 23 – Martin and Charlie escalate their relationship. Wilma campaigns against Commodore Anderson for leadership in the False Bay Action Group, with Jack causing disruption.
    • Episode 24 – Martin's joy at Amina's stay grows as she bonds with the Fields. With a revoked license, Hannes resorts to crime for Yolande's trial. Gavin and Rebecca's parties stir change. Tristan and Yolande's love faces dissent.
  • October 20th (FINALE):
    • Episode 25 – Sharks are finned in the bay, prompting a criminal probe. Gavin and Rebecca's wedding nears, causing Rebecca anxiety. False Bay Action Group holds elections, and Wilma wins. Hannes rushes to move Yolande to the US.
    • Episode 26 – Rebecca flees her wedding to find her daughter, Amina, revealing Martin as Amina's father. The family is left in turmoil, with Gavin and Martin clashing.

  • October 23rd
    • Episode 1: When Rhys returns to Llanemlyn decades after being jailed for his cousin’s death in 1995, the past resurfaces. A new protest about the reservoir expansion, led by Llyr’s daughter, draws in journalism student Caryl, who uncovers secrets that could shatter loyalties and expose buried truths.
    • Episode 2: As Caryl investigates, she meets activist Mabli, while Eve feels increasingly trapped. Rhys's search for truth brings him face-to-face with Eve, sparking revelations that could unravel the town’s hidden secrets and change everything.
  • October 30th
    • Episode 3: Caryl faces a crisis, torn between truth and community. A new lead reignites her investigation into the 1995 bombing. Rhys reveals facts about the night of the bombing, while protests about the reservoir expansion deepen divides in the community and threaten to expose buried truths.

Mary Shelley premieres October 27th

Gemma Arterton and Saoirse Ronan star as Clara and Eleanor, a mother-daughter pair of vampires who flee a secretive brotherhood and take refuge in a run-down seaside town in Britain.
