Every so often, Amazon runs a sale where they drop the price of channel subscriptions for a limited time. From now until July 17th, you can get any of a number of premium channels for just $.99/month for your first two months. It's a great way to try out new channels or get caught up on shows you've missed, and you can cancel online at any time from your “Memberships & Subscriptions” page if you decide you don't want to continue after the promotional pricing ends.

In this post, we'll take a look at which channels are on sale – and what they have to offer British TV fans.

The Best Sale Channels for British TV Fans

Acorn TV

This much-loved channel features shows from the UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and a variety of European countries (along with a couple stray shows from the Americas). They're a bit weaker when it comes to comedy, but very strong on cozy-ish mysteries with 40+ female protagonists. Get it HERE

In addition to British content, they also offer a number of Walter Presents selections (carefully selected European shows with subtitles). They're particularly strong on period dramas, but they also have a number of shows set in the present. Get it HERE.

MHz Choice

MHz Choice is not for those who hate subtitles, as only a small selection of their shows are dubbed. They specialise in non-English programming, with shows and movies from most European countries and a few outside of Europe (including Korea and Japan). They DO have some British and Irish programming, including a number of shows in Scottish Gaelic, Irish Gaelic, and Welsh. They recently absorbed all the programming from Topic, and that brought in a handful of English-language British shows. Get it HERE

Formerly known as Epix, MGM+ has a few good British or semi-British shows. They include Pennyworth, Belgravia, A Spy Among Friends, and The Winter King. Get it HERE

PBS Documentaries

This is another station where most of the programming is American, but there ARE a handful of great documentaries with some kind of British connection (especially if you're into the royal family). They include The Queen & the Coup, The Princes in the Tower, The Windsors: A Royal Family, and Dangerous Edge: A Life of Graham Greene. Get it HERE

Hallmark Movies Now

Hallmark is primarily American, but in recent years they've been setting an increasing number of films in the UK and Ireland. While a bit cheesy, there are times when that's just what you want. We recommend checking out Christmas at Castle Hart, Jolly Good Christmas, An American in Austen, Love & Jane, A Scottish Love Scheme, Paging Mrs. Darcy, and Sense & Sensibility. Get it HERE

The Great Courses Signature Collection

This channel offers access to all sorts of fun courses on things like history, languages, maths, cooking, science, writing, and more. A few worth checking out: England, the 1960s, and the Triumph of the Beatles, The Medieval Legacy, The Black Death: New Lessons from Recent Research, and The Great Tours: England, Scotland, and Wales. Up Faith & Family

This family-friendly channel is mostly American, but they do have a few stray British, Australian, and Canadian offerings that might appear to some of our readers – including Wild at Heart (UK), 800 Words (NZ), and Hudson & Rex (CAN). Get the channel HERE
