August is almost here, and Acorn TV has a packed lineup of new shows – including a new one starring American actress Alicia Silverstone – along with another new entry in the “Britain's Most Scenic Counties” series. Keep reading for the full lineup + descriptions.

The Madame Blanc Mysteries continues in August

Madame Blanc Mysteries, Season 4

Season four of The Madame Blanc Mysteries returns to Sainte Victoire, where antiques, murder, and mystery continue to fill the sunny village. Sally Lindsay (Coronation Street) reprises her role as Jean White, who is now exploring a new romance with her friend and colleague Dom Hayes, played by Steve Edge (Starlings).

Sue Vincent (Mount Pleasant) returns as mechanic Gloria Beaushaw. Robin Askwith (Strike) and Sue Holderness (Only Fools and Horses) are back as the eccentric couple Jeremy and Judith Lloyd James. Alex Gaumond (Derry Girls) once again appears as Chief of Police André Caron. The cast also includes Tony Robinson (Blackadder) as Dom’s uncle Patrick, a small-time thief turned pub landlord, and Paul Chuckle (Elliott) as Trevor, Gloria’s father.

Episodes will air as follows:

  • August 4th:
    • Episode 6, “Antique Antics” – When a touring television show “Antique Antics” visits Judith and Jeremy’s summer home, its presenter is killed during filming. Accused of the crime, Jean’s friend David asks for her help to prove his innocence.
  • August 11th:
    • Episode 7, “Where Eagles Dare” (FINALE) – When local man Jovan is attacked after trying to sell a rare trinket, Jean looks for the perpetrator while trying to resolve her failing relationship with Dom. Otto, a regular at the bar, retaliates against Patrick.

Summertide continues in August

Summertide (2024)

This South African drama follows the Field family across multiple generations, along with those whose lives intersect with theirs. Each character carries hidden motives and personal struggles, revealing the complex ties that bind them over time.

Episodes will premiere as follows:

  • August 4th:
    • Episode 3 – Tristan and Lucy’s first day of school doesn’t go well. Martin steps up for his children. Gavin plans to take his
      relationship with Rebecca to the next level.
    • Episode 4 – Martin angers the fishermen when he proposes no-take zones in False Bay. Tristan is initiated into the surf gang.
      Rebecca and Gavin make up, but feelings for Martin re-surface.
  • August 11th: 
    • Episode 5 – Martin tries to unite the community with a beach clean-up. Rebecca faces having to sell the restaurant, and Gavin
      deals with his break-up. Lucy grows attached to the penguins.
    • Episode 6 – Tristan finds Julia’s old camera. Martin is reluctant to look at the old footage, but when Tristan disobeys him and edits the footage, secrets and painful memories are opened.
  • August 18th:
    • Episode 7 – While Martin tries to face the memories of his wife’s drowning, and Tristan turns to Yolande, Lucy is forgotten. Gavin comes up with an unexpected plan to help Rebecca.
    • Episode 8 – Martin tackles over-fishing in the bay. Tristan gets himself into serious trouble. And things go from bad to worse when Martin shares the secret of Julia’s death with Tristan.
  • August 25th:
    • Episode 9 – Tristan takes Yolande out on a boat, but things go terribly wrong. Rebecca and Gavin rally together to renovate the restaurant. And Martin admits it was his fault his wife died.
    • Episode 10 – Hannes threatens to tell Tristan the truth about Yolande is she keeps on seeing him. The fishermen retaliate against Martin and take it out on Lucy’s dear penguin.

Britain's Most Scenic Counties, Season 2: Kent

Narrated by Bill Nighy, this series offers a day-in-the-life portrait of Kent, known as the Garden of England. Travelling from the striking White Cliffs of Dover to the quiet reaches of the Thames Estuary, it follows farmers, foragers, makers, and locals whose lives are shaped by the land. Along the way, it captures the rhythms of work and leisure in one of Britain’s most storied and productive counties. Five episode binge premiere.

Summerland premieres August 4th

  • August 18th: 
    • Episode 3, “Under Wraps” – Fiona, Musa, and Róisín investigate the next clue in the briefcase—a pair of blood-stained Mixed Martial Arts gloves with a hidden metal gauze. Róisín suspects a link to a local criminal fighter.
  • August 25th: 
    • Episode 4, “Father Al” – Fiona's mother, Mary, arrives to take her back to the U.S., but a visit to a grave and an unexpected encounter with an old flame force them to face old wounds and unexpected truths.
