The Camomile Lawn premieres January 20th

The Camomile Lawn (1992)

In 1939, and with the Spanish Civil War over and World War II looming on the horizon, young friends Oliver, Calypso, Polly, and Walter escape to the idyllic Cornish coast to visit loved ones. Amidst the uncertainty of the era, they revel in fleeting moments of romance and freedom, knowing the world around them is changing forever. Decades later, the once carefree group reunites under very different circumstances—this time for a funeral that brings past tensions and secrets to light. Starring Felicity Kendal (Rosemary & Thyme), Claire Bloom (Clash of the Titans), and Richard Johnson (The Haunting).

A couple of fun facts about this classic production…

  • It reunited Felicity Kendal and Paul Eddington, who appeared together in The Good Life back in the 1970s. Sadly, it would also be one of Eddington's final performances.
  • Actress Jennifer Ehle (Pride & Prejudice) had her TV debut as the younger version of Calypso, while her real-life mum, Rosemary Harris, plays the older version of her character.
  • It was also the television debut for the child of another famous actress – Toby Stephens, son of Dame Maggie Smith. Her response to his performance? According to friend and writer John Osborne, she said, “It was really quite a shock. I hadn't seen his willy since he was two and a half.”
