Shows Continuing on Acorn TV in April 2026
Murdoch Mysteries, Season 19
Set in early 1900s Toronto, the series follows Detective William Murdoch (Yannick Bisson, Casino Jack, Baking All the Way) as he investigates murders using forensic methods that are unusual for the time. The period setting and focus on early investigative techniques remain central to the show.
New episodes in April are:
- April 6th – Episode 6, “He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother” – A Japanese scholar is kidnapped, and Inspector Choi suspects his estranged brother is involved.
- April 13th – Episode 7, “Murder, She Wrote” – A crime novelist (Sally Lindsay, The Madame Blanc Mysteries) pushes her way into Murdoch’s investigation of an attorney murdered at his own retirement party.
- April 20th – Episode 8, “Fashion Crimes” – Effie enlists Murdoch’s help to defend a maid accused of killing the owner of a prominent fashion label, while Violet’s neighborhood safety program proves to be anything but safe.
- April 27th – Episode 9, “Sugar Plum Murdoch” – Murdoch pursues a thief when a diamond tiara is stolen during a special Christmas event, while Margaret Brackenreid tries to convince Anna Pavlova to perform in a charity Nutcracker ballet.

Mystery Road Origin, Season 2
Set in the Australian Outback, this crime drama follows a younger Jay Swan (Mystery Road) as he begins his career in policing and learns to navigate the tensions, loyalties, and buried histories of small-town life. The series combines murder investigations with a strong sense of place, while also exploring the personal experiences that shape Jay long before the events of the later stories.
In the new season, Jay begins looking into a new case only to find the town of Loch Iris closing ranks around him. As he digs further, he uncovers signs of a troubling past that the community has kept hidden for years, with consequences that still reach into the present. The deeper he gets, the more the investigation threatens not only to expose old secrets, but also to drive a wedge between Jay and Mary.
Episodes will air as follows as follows:
- April 6th, Episode 3 – Jay and Mary's world is thrown into an unimaginable horror when Anya goes missing. Jay imprisons Joey, who he suspects is responsible, and demands answers. Meanwhile, Mary collapses and is rushed to the hospital.
- April 13th, Episode 4 – Pushed to the edge, Jay interrogates Joey, who he believes is behind Anya and Scarlett's disappearances, and gets a shocking confession. His relationship with Mary reaches a breaking point when they discover who kidnapped Anya.
- April 20th, Episode 5 – Secrets buried in Loch Iris begin to surface as Jay uncovers stolen “Native Admission Files” that expose the town's darkest truths. With Jay and Mary's guardianship threatened and a murder suspect emerging, the dangers of the past rapidly close in.
- April 27th, Episode 6 – thirty-year-old mystery shatters Loch Iris when Jay uncovers forged adoption files and a chilling link to St. Joseph's and Swayze's recent disappearance. Meanwhile, as Jay and Simmo reveal hidden secrets, Mary goes into labor.

The Feud on Shelbury Drive (aka The Feud, 2025)
Emma (Jill Halfpenny, Waterloo Road, EastEnders) and John (Rupert Penry-Jones, MI-5, Match Point) appear to have a comfortable life on Shelbury Drive, where they are part of a close-knit neighborhood. But when Emma plans a kitchen extension, objections from nearby residents begin to strain those relationships.
As tensions build, hidden secrets start to surface and the dispute takes a darker turn. What begins as a home improvement project gradually becomes tied up with suspicion, fear, and Emma’s growing fixation on getting what she wants.
Episodes will continue in April as follows:
- April 6th, Episode 2 – Despite opposition from her neighbors, Emma's father, Terry, secures planning permission.
- April 13th, Episode 3 – Tensions rise and relationships get strained as Emma worries about who is secretly threatening her.
- April 20th, Episode 4 – Emma's world falls apart as she faces suspicion, pressure, accusations, demands, and threats.
- April 27th, Episode 5 – As Emma faces imminent threats, Derek fights for his life, and Alan shares a secret with John.

April 6th Premieres
Brokenwood Mysteries, Season 12
Set in a small New Zealand town where murder has an oddly persistent way of disrupting local life, this mystery series follows Detective Mike Shepherd (Neill Rea, The Warrior’s Way), Detective Kristin Sims (Fern Sutherland), and their colleagues as they investigate crimes that are often stranger than they first appear. Some have compared it to a New Zealand-flavored Midsomer Murders.
In this run, the body count in town keeps climbing as hidden motives, local conspiracies, and long-buried secrets come to the surface. Mike and his team continue to rely on their own unconventional approach as they work through some of the town’s most unusual murder cases.

- April 6th – Episode 1, “They're Out There Alright” – When a man is found dead in a crop circle, alien abduction theories spark in Brokenwood.
- April 13th – Episode 2, “Angels and Demons” – Mike (Neill Rea, The Warrior’s Way) and Kristin (Fern Sutherland, The Almighty Johnsons) investigate when a young priest's wife dies in the church cemetery.
- April 20th – Episode 3, “Midnight in the Garden” – A lavish New Year's Eve masquerade comes to a tragic end after the death of its mysterious host.
- April 27th – Episode 4, “No Return Ticket” – A celebratory vintage train ride ends in tragedy when a bride's body is found beside the tracks.

The Cruise Doctor, aka Der Schiffsarzt (2022, German language with subtitles)
After his pregnant wife vanishes, Eric (Moritz Otto) is left with almost no clues and begins pursuing the case himself. His search takes a new direction when an image places her aboard a cruise ship, prompting him to sign on as the vessel’s doctor so he can investigate from the inside.

Playing for Keeps, Seasons 1-2 (2018 to 2019)
This Australian drama follows the wives and girlfriends of players at a fictional Australian rules football club, focusing on the rivalries, secrets, and personal conflicts that surround life off the field. As their relationships grow more complicated, loyalties shift and private problems begin to spill into public view. Binge premiere.

Wild Sides (2023)
Set in Botswana’s Mashatu region, this wildlife documentary follows elephants, cheetahs, leopards, jackals, baboons, and other animals as they share a harsh and changing environment shaped by drought, flooding, and periods of plenty. Colin Salmon, known for Resident Evil and Alien vs. Predator, narrates.

April 22nd PremierES
SisterS, Season 2
Created by and starring real-life friends Sarah Goldberg (The Audacity, Barry) and Susan Stanley (Fair City), this comedy-drama follows two estranged sisters whose lives have pulled in very different directions. Season 2 begins eighteen months after Sare left Suze behind in Dublin, just as Suze was coming to terms with difficult news about her hopes for motherhood.
Now in Canada, Sare is trying to settle into what she sees as a more stable future, while avoiding some larger questions about her life. But when Suze receives an invitation to Sare’s wedding, she heads to Canada in the hope of repairing their relationship. Donal Logue and Sophie Thompson return as Jimmy and Sheryl. Binge premiere.
