Every so often, Amazon runs a sale where they drop the price of channel subscriptions for a limited time. From now until July 11th, you can get any of a number of premium channels for just $.99/month for your first two months (all except Apple TV+, which is $4.99 for your first two months).
It's a great way to try out new channels or get caught up on shows you've missed, and you can cancel online at any time from your “Memberships & Subscriptions” page if you decide you don't want to continue after the promotional pricing ends.
In this post, we'll take a look at which channels are on sale – and what they have to offer British TV fans.
The Best Prime Day Channel Sales for British TV Fans
Acorn TV
This much-loved channel features shows from the UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and a variety of European countries (along with a couple stray shows from the Americas). They're a bit weaker when it comes to comedy, but very strong on cozy-ish mysteries with 40+ female protagonists.

BritBox
This one is almost exclusively British and it has nearly double the number of titles you'll find on Acorn TV. Though strong across a wide variety of categories, they're especially strong when it comes to crime and comedy (including a number of panel shows). If big events are your thing, it's also worth noting that BritBox includes programmes like the Carols at Kings, the Chelsea Flower Show, and many royal events.

Other Channels That Might Be of Interest to British TV Fans
MHz Choice
MHz Choice is not for those who hate subtitles, as only a small selection of their shows are dubbed. They specialise in non-English programming, with shows and movies from most European countries and a few outside of Europe (including Korea and Japan). They DO have some British and Irish programming, including a number of shows in Scottish Gaelic, Irish Gaelic, and Welsh. They recently absorbed all the programming from Topic, and that brought in a handful of English-language British shows.

Apple TV+
After years of only being available directly from Apple, it's great to have the option to subscribe outside the Apple ecosystem. They've been steadily building a nice stable of British TV shows, including…
- Slow Horses (about screwups at MI5, based on Mick Herron's novels)
- Ted Lasso (an upbeat American football coach meets British culture)
- Trying (about a young British couple trying to build a family)
- Bad Sisters (a dark Irish comedy about sisters being investigated for the death of their brother-in-law)
Starz
Starz doesn't have a huge number of British shows, but the few they do have tend to be well-produced. They include Outlander, Men in Kilts, The White Queen, The White Princess, and Dublin Murders. Get Starz HERE
MGM+
Formerly known as Epix, MGM+ has a few good British or semi-British shows. They include Pennyworth, Belgravia, A Spy Among Friends, and The Winter King. Get it HERE
PBS Documentaries
This is another station where most of the programming is American, but there ARE a handful of great documentaries with some kind of British connection (especially if you're into the royal family). They include The Queen & the Coup, The Princes in the Tower, and Dangerous Edge: A Life of Graham Greene. Get it HERE
Hallmark Movies Now
Hallmark is primarily American, but in recent years they've been setting an increasing number of films in the UK and Ireland. While a bit cheesy, there are times when that's just what you want. We recommend checking out Christmas at Castle Hart, Jolly Good Christmas, An American in Austen, Love & Jane, A Scottish Love Scheme, Paging Mrs. Darcy, and The Presence of Love. More recently, they've even added cozy mysteries like Shakespeare & Hathaway and Rosemary & Thyme. Get it HERE
The Great Courses Signature Collection
This channel offers access to all sorts of fun courses on things like history, languages, maths, cooking, science, writing, and more. A few worth checking out: England, the 1960s, and the Triumph of the Beatles, The Medieval Legacy, The Black Death: New Lessons from Recent Research, and The Great Tours: England, Scotland, and Wales. Paramount doesn't have a lot of purely British shows, but they do have…
- MobLand (with Pierce Brosnan, Dame Helen Mirren, and Tom Hardy)
- Watson (a Sherlock Holmes spinoff about a modern Watson after the Reichenbach Falls incident)
- Ghosts (a must-watch for British sitcom fans)
AMC+
This one has a ton of overlap with Acorn TV, but it does have the entire Sundance Now catalog plus some others, like…
- McMafia (James Norton gets sucked into involvement with the Russian mafia)
- Gangs of London (self-explanatory)
