Fresh images from the upcoming season offer a peek at Eliza Scarlet back on the job, trading observations with DI Alexander Blake and reconnecting with familiar allies around Victorian London. If the photos are any indication, season 6 leans into an evolving relationship with Scotland Yard and the long-awaited reappearance of Moses Valentine.

What is Miss Scarlet about?

Set in 1880s London, the series follows Eliza Scarlet (Kate Phillips), a private detective who inherits her father’s agency and insists on making a place for herself in a male-dominated profession. Originally titled Miss Scarlet & the Duke, the show began with Eliza’s push-and-pull partnership with DI William “The Duke” Wellington before shifting focus to her evolving alliances at Scotland Yard.

She takes on clients others overlook, works sources across the city, and navigates official channels where cooperation and competition often blur. Cases range from confidence tricks and society scandals to street-level crime, while an ongoing thread tracks Eliza’s methods, her business, and the team she builds around her.

What the new photos hint at

Phillips looks firmly in her element, tracking leads, pushing past gatekeepers, and relying on the network she's built over six seasons. The first-look shots pair her with Tom Durant-Pritchard as DI Alexander Blake, and show Ansu Kabia back as Moses, whose return has been one of the most requested developments since last year. We also glimpse Ivy and Clarence in Eliza’s orbit, a reminder that the agency and home front remain part of the show’s rhythm.

Who’s in season 6

Alongside Phillips, returning cast includes Tom Durant-Pritchard as DI Alexander Blake, Cathy Belton as Ivy, Paul Bazely as Clarence, Simon Ludders as Mr Potts, Tim Chipping as Detective Phelps, and Ansu Kabia as Moses Valentine. New this season are Sam Buchanan as Detective George Willows, a young officer who has climbed the ranks to join Scotland Yard, and Grace Hogg-Robinson as Isabel Summers, an ambitious addition to the Clerical Office alongside Ivy.

The series is created by Rachael New and written by New and Ben Edwards. Executive producers include Patty Lenahan Ishimoto, Harvey Myman, Susanne Simpson, Jin Ishimoto, Patrick Irwin, Ben Edwards, and Rachael New. Season 6 is directed by Rachael New and Ivan Živković. Filming began in February in Belgrade, Serbia, which once again doubles convincingly (enough) for Victorian London.

What happened to the Duke?

Miss Scarlet & the Duke (Season 1)

If you stepped away for a bit, here is the short version. Stuart Martin, who played DI William “The Duke” Wellington, exited ahead of the most recent run, and the series title shortened from Miss Scarlet and The Duke to Miss Scarlet. In his place at the Yard, the show introduced DI Alexander Blake (Tom Durant-Pritchard). Season 6 continues with that setup, focusing on how Eliza and Blake work together as colleagues whose methods and instincts do not always align.

Martin has been quoted saying he felt Miss Scarlet's character wasn't being allowed to evolve, and that he felt his own character was holding her back. Whether that's the truth or just a polite answer, we'll never know… but either way, we were sad to see him go (even though his replacement is doing a perfectly lovely job, too).
