Tales of the Unexpected (1979–1988)
This anthology series ran for nine season and 112 episodes, and each one pairs something strange, creepy, or macabre with a real-life setting that makes it all the more unsettling. Though very obviously produced on a low budget, it's great fun because (a) you get that time machine peek back at 1970s-80s Britain, and (b) it's full of guest appearances from actors who were either famous at the time, or who went on to become famous later.
In Early seasons adapt Roald Dahl’s short stories, with later episodes expanding to other writers. Compact twist-ending tales are performed by changing guest casts.
