Last week, we posted about what's new on BritBox in September, and now, we have the details on Acorn TV, too. As we saw with BritBox (and with past years), things are starting to pick up in September – something that always happens around the time cooler weather is on the way. As far as we're concerned, the best thing on the upcoming schedule is the premiere of Murder Before Evensong, but it's far from the only thing coming. Full details and descriptions await below…

Irish Blood continues in September

Irish Blood (2025)

In this six-part mystery drama, Fiona (Alicia Silverstone, Clueless) is a high-powered lawyer whose tough exterior was forged by a childhood betrayal—her father, Declan (Jason O’Mara, The Man in the High Castle), walked out on her and her mother on her tenth birthday, never to return. Or so she believed.

When an unexpected message draws her to Ireland, Fiona is forced to confront the truth about the man she’s spent her life resenting. What she uncovers is a family who never knew she existed and a buried past wrapped in secrecy, deception, and criminal ties. The story that shaped her turns out to be a fabrication—one told to keep her safe. As Fiona digs deeper, her quest to understand her father becomes a dangerous pursuit of answers, revealing just how far he went to protect the life she thought he destroyed.

Episodes will premiere as follows: 

  • September 1st: 
    • Episode 5, “Machine” – After Fiona and Róisín uncover Declan's hidden hard drive, Fiona questions whether his death was truly a suicide as she confronts dark family secrets. Meanwhile, Johnny McIntyre is mysteriously broken out of prison by Wylie Moles.
  • September 8th: 
    • Episode 6, “Turbo” – Fiona races to expose the truth behind the sabotage of a car rally and its tragic consequences, only to discover an ultimate betrayal.
Summertide continues in September

Summertide (2024)

This South African drama follows the Field family across multiple generations, along with those whose lives intersect with theirs. Each character carries hidden motives and personal struggles, revealing the complex ties that bind them over time.

Episodes will premiere as follows:

  • September 1st:
    • Episode 11 – Animosity escalates until Martin asks the fishermen to work with him. Tristan learns the truth about Yolande, and Elena arrives from Cyprus. Wilma makes an awful mistake.
    • Episode 12 – Martin learns there is an illegal fishing syndicate operating in the bay, and suspects Freddy is part of it. Jack struggles to forgive Wilma. Tristan makes a difficult choice.
  • September 8th: 
    • Episode 13 – Freddy crosses sides, and teams up with Martin to entrap the illegal trawlers. Hannes reveals a dark
      secret. Gavin plans to propose, but passion flares between Rebecca and Martin.
    • Episode 14 – Martin seeks vengeance for his wrecked boat, tracing it to Hannes. Meanwhile, Rebecca dreads Martin revealing their kiss to Gavin. Jack and Wilma's marriage crumbles.
  • September 15th:
    • Episode 15 – A shark sighting sparks fear of great whites. Martin confronts Hannes, while Tristan aims to lose his virginity. Rebecca ponders marriage to Gavin. Jack struggles to trust Wilma.
    • Episode 16 – Emily's disappearance sparks shark abduction fears. Martin hunts for great whites. Rebecca's love for Gavin deepens. Martin meets Lucy’s new psychologist, the charming Charlie.
  • September 22nd:
    • Episode 17 – The community blames sharks for Emily's presumed death. Martin and Charlie show interest in each other, upsetting Lucy. Wesley learns Hannes stole his money for Yolande's treatment.
    • Episode 18 – A newcomer unsettles Rebecca, revealing old secrets. Wilma abandons marital repair and seeks self-discovery. Hannes capitalizes on shark fears with cage diving.
  • September 29th
    • Episode 19 – Despite a shark attack, Hannes keeps chumming. The Fields honor Julia, aiding Martin's closure. Amina rattles Rebecca, distancing Gavin. Jack fears Wilma's independence.
    • Episode 20 – False Bay wants to get rid of great whites, but Martin's trust campaigns for awareness. Rebecca must disclose her secret for her relationship with Gavin to continue.

Totally Completely Fine (2023, AU)

After her grandfather dies peacefully in his sleep, a young woman inherits his clifftop home, a place where people often come intending to end their lives. She soon discovers that her grandfather had quietly spent years persuading visitors to step back, saving hundreds of lives in the process. When she prevents a runaway bride from jumping, she begins to take on the same role, guiding those who come to the cliff while adjusting to her new life in the area known as “the Crevice.” Six episode binge premiere.

The Crow Girl premieres September 8th

The Crow Girl (2025)

The murders of several young men bring together DCI Jeanette Kilburn, played by Eve Myles (Hijack, Torchwood), and psychotherapist Dr. Sophia Craven, portrayed by Katherine Kelly (The Long Shadow, Protection). Their partnership draws them into a dangerous investigation that uncovers historic abuse and long-concealed violence. Dougray Scott (Vigil, Desperate Housewives) also appears.

Episodes will premiere as follows: 

  • September 8th: 
    • Episode 1, “She Sees Herself from Above” – DCI Jeanette Kilburn helms a murder investigation, which leads her to psychotherapist Sophia Craven who has clinically assessed her prime suspect.
  • September 15th: 
    • Episode 2, “The Egg She Wishes to Crack” – A second body gives Jeanette new leads, while Sophia is haunted by a former patient, the enigmatic and troubled Victoria.
  • September 22nd: 
    • Episode 3, “She Wishes to Believe” – Pressure mounts as a third body is dumped outside a private school. Jeanette’s theories come under fire. Madeleine finds herself in danger as Victoria gets closer.
  • September 29th:
    • Episode 4, “The Dirt She Can't Bury” – A body buried in woodland leads Jeanette to the dysfunctional Burkeman family. For Sophia, the death of a client leaves her fixating on Victoria. An encounter with Amar brings Mike closer to the truth.
The Tribes of Palos Verdes premieres September 8th

The Tribes of Palos Verdes (2017, USA Film)

After turmoil disrupts her seemingly perfect life in Palos Verdes, teenager Medina looks to surfing as an escape and a path toward happiness. The film stars Maika Monroe (It Follows, Longlegs), Jennifer Garner (Daredevil, The Last Thing He Told Me), and Alicia Silverstone (Clueless, Irish Blood).

Agatha Christie's Poirot returns to Acorn TV on September 15th

Belgian detective Hercule Poirot, played by Sir David Suchet, applies his trademark precision and psychological insight to solve complex crimes across England and beyond. Set largely between the 1910s and 1940s, the series brings Agatha Christie’s classic mysteries to life with detailed period settings, intricate plots, and an emphasis on Poirot’s “little grey cells.” Suchet’s meticulous portrayal captures both the detective’s fastidious habits and his sharp intellect, making him a constant presence in drawing rooms, country estates, and bustling cities where murder disrupts the surface of polite society. Each story presents a puzzle of lies, motives, and secrets that only Poirot’s keen observations can untangle.

Seasons will premiere as follows:

Agatha Christie's Marple returns to Acorn TV September 22nd

Miss Jane Marple is an elderly amateur detective whose sharp eye for detail draws her into murder cases in villages and country estates across England. Though she appears to be a quiet spinster, she repeatedly proves more capable than the police in uncovering the truth behind complex crimes. Geraldine McEwan first took on the role in the series, followed by Julia McKenzie, with both leading adaptations of Agatha Christie’s classic stories set against mid-20th-century backdrops. Each episode presents a self-contained mystery. All six seasons premiere at once.

Murder Before Evensong (2025)

Canon Daniel Clement, a quiet village rector played by Matthew Lewis (Harry Potter films, Me Before You), becomes involved in a murder investigation after a local man is found stabbed with a pair of gardening secateurs. When his outspoken mother Audrey arrives unexpectedly, long-buried family tensions resurface just as a deeper crisis unfolds. The victim, a cousin of the church’s patron, forces Daniel to confront secrets hidden beneath the surface of village life. As media attention grows and pressure mounts from his bishop, Daniel begins to wonder who he can trust—and whether he was the real target. Based on the novel Murder Before Evensong by Reverend Richard Coles.

Episodes will premiere in September as follows:

  • September 29th
    • Episode 1: Canon Daniel Clement, introverted Rector of the picturesque English village of Champton, has his life turned upside-down when his infuriating mother Audrey arrives unannounced, dragging up memories Daniel would rather not confront. But a more serious challenge awaits Daniel when he stumbles upon the body of his parishioner, Anthony Bowness, cousin of Lord de Floures. Daniel must delve under the veneer of village life to piece together clues and uncover long-buried secrets, navigating the press and public eye and the ire of his superior, the bishop. Daniel is
      forced to question who he can trust, and whether he himself was the intended murder victim.

Additional episodes will air in October (6 in total).
