Netflix Reveals First Look at Black Doves Season 2

Keira Knightley and Ben Whishaw are heading back into London’s dangerous world of spies, assassins and political secrets in the second season of Black Doves, and Netflix has now released the first images along with a firm premiere date.
What Is Black Doves About?
For those who haven’t caught up with the first season yet, Black Doves stars Keira Knightley as Helen Webb, a wife and mother who has spent years secretly working as a spy for an organization known as the Black Doves. Her position gives her access to valuable political information through her husband Wallace, played by Andrew Buchan.
Ben Whishaw co-stars as Sam, Helen’s longtime friend and a skilled assassin with a fair few complications of his own. The first season brought the two back together after a crisis in Helen’s personal life pulled her deeper into the dangerous world she’d been trying to keep separate from her family (we won't say too much more in case you're still new to the series).
What Is Black Doves Season 2 About?
Season 2 finds Helen in an even more precarious position. She’s still passing government secrets to the Black Doves, but Wallace is now preparing to become prime minister, putting her closer than ever to the heart of British government.
Meanwhile, Helen’s handler Mrs. Reed, played by Sarah Lancashire, becomes caught up in a plot threatening her position within the organization. That brings Helen back together with Sam, whose own life has taken a downward turn since the events of the first season. The pair begin searching for answers, leading them further into the organization itself and forcing them to confront old friends, enemies and decisions from their past.
Who’s Returning for Black Doves Season 2?
Keira Knightley returns as Helen Webb, with Ben Whishaw back as Sam and Sarah Lancashire returning as the formidable Mrs. Reed.
Andrew Buchan (Broadchurch) reprises his role as Helen’s husband Wallace, while Kathryn Hunter returns as Lenny Lines. Ella Lily Hyland and Gabrielle Creevy are also back as Williams and Eleanor, the unconventional pair of assassins introduced during Season 1. Agnes O’Casey returns as Dani, and Molly Chesworth is back as Marie.
Who’s Joining the Cast?
Ambika Mod (One Day, This Is Going to Hurt) joins the series as Laila, an acerbic Black Doves agent sent to help Helen with a mission. Neve Campbell (Scream, The Lincoln Lawyer) will play Cecile Mason, while Babou Ceesay (Alien: Earth) appears as Mr. Conteh, a Black Doves executive whose motives may not be entirely straightforward.
Sam Riley (Firebrand) plays Patrick, a representative from a mysterious organization who offers Sam a possible way out of his current troubles. The new cast also includes Sylvia Hoeks (Blade Runner 2049) as Katia Chernov, Goran Kostic (Canary Black) as Alexi Chernov and Samuel Barnett (Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency) as Jerry.
Who’s Making Black Doves Season 2?
Joe Barton returns as creator, writer and executive producer for the second season. Julian Farino, whose previous credits include Giri/Haji, and Kieron Hawkes (Red Eye, Fortitude) direct the new episodes.
Barton has described the returning ensemble as the show’s “murderous little spy family,” and the second season appears set to expand that world considerably as Helen and Sam get closer to the organization behind the Black Doves themselves.
When Will Black Doves Season 2 Premiere?
Since it's a Netflix series, there’s no long wait between the UK and US for this one. Black Doves Season 2 will premiere on Netflix in both countries on Thursday, November 5, 2026.
The first season is already available on Netflix, so viewers who haven’t caught up yet have several weeks to do so before Helen and Sam return.
