Acorn TV has released the trailer and key art for the third season of Signora Volpe, with Emilia Fox returning as former British spy Sylvia Fox for three new feature-length mysteries set in Italy.

What Is Signora Volpe Season 3 About?

Emilia Fox as Signora Volpe

Season 3 finds Sylvia trying to settle back into life in Italy while continuing her relationship with Captain Giovanni Riva. As usual, however, it doesn’t take long before she’s drawn into a new series of investigations.

The cases include the murder of a local winery owner and the mysterious death of a young man found in the bed of a prominent couple. As Sylvia digs deeper, the investigations begin to hit closer to home, and someone from her past threatens to complicate the life she’s built for herself in Italy.

The new season also picks up after Sylvia’s abduction at the end of season 2. She has physically and mentally recovered, but questions remain about what happened to her and whether the ordeal is truly behind her.

What Does the New Signora Volpe Trailer Show?

The new trailer offers a quick peek at Sylvia’s latest investigations, along with more of the Italian setting that has become such a major part of the series.

We see Sylvia working alongside Riva and Brigadiere Roberta Barzini, along with the return of Adam Haines, Sylvia’s former MI6 colleague and ex-husband (which sounds like it will be very interesting). The footage also suggests Sylvia’s personal life will become increasingly tangled with the cases she’s trying to solve.

Who’s Returning for Signora Volpe Season 3?

Emilia Fox (Silent Witness) returns as Sylvia Fox, the former British intelligence officer who traded London for a quieter life in Umbria, only to discover she has a difficult time staying away from mysteries.

Giovanni Cirfiera (Ford v Ferrari) is back as Captain Giovanni Riva, while Tara Fitzgerald (Belgravia, Game of Thrones) returns as Sylvia’s sister Isabel Vitale. Elena Di Cioccio reprises her role as Brigadiere Roberta Barzini, with Matteo Carlomagno returning as Matteo Vitale, Marianne Leoni as Raffaella Tasso and Imma Piro as Antonella Vitale.

Jamie Bamber (Beyond Paradise, Battlestar Galactica) also returns in a recurring role as Adam Haines, while Buffy Davis is back as Miriam Cavendish.

The series was created by Rachel Cuperman and Sally Griffiths, whose previous credits include Midsomer Murders. Both return as writers and executive producers for the third season, with Emilia Fox also serving as an executive producer. Matthew Bird (Boat Story, The Turkish Detective) produces, while David Evans (Downton Abbey, Preacher) directs all three episodes.

The series is produced by Route 24 for Acorn TV, with Italian production services provided by Cattleya. Banijay Rights handles international distribution.
