Wondering what's going on with your favorite British TV show? We've saved you a bit of research. Below, we take a look at the latest status for more than 90 recent British TV series.

Research current as of October 12th, 2026. For each show: (a) the most recent season or special to premiere, with the date and country of first premiere, (b) US availability, and (c) what we know about upcoming seasons.

AFTER THE FLOOD

Last season to premiere: Series 2 — January 18, 2026 (UK, ITV1/ITVX)
US availability: Seasons 1–2 on BritBox (Season 2 arrived April 23, 2026; complete)
Next: Cancelled. In August 2026, ITV confirmed there are “no plans for a third series,” so the show ends after two.

ALL CREATURES GREAT & SMALL

Last season to premiere: Season 7 — September 17, 2026 (UK, Channel 5), set in 1946 with Caolan McCarthy joining as rival vet Granville Bennett. A 2026 Christmas special is also confirmed but undated.
US availability: Seasons 1–6 on PBS Passport and the PBS Masterpiece Prime Video channel. Season 7 premieres on PBS Masterpiece Sunday, January 17, 2027 at 9/8c.
Next: Season 8 was greenlit alongside Season 7 (February 2025), so there's at least one more season after this one. No filming or air dates for Season 8 yet.

ANNIKA

Last season to premiere: Season 2 — August 2023 (UK, U&Alibi)
US availability: Seasons 1–2 on PBS Passport / PBS Masterpiece Prime Video channel (complete)
Next: Effectively over. UKTV told press in September 2025 that “there are no current plans for a third series,” and nothing has changed since. There's been no formal cancellation announcement, but after three years it's safe to stop waiting.

ART DETECTIVES

Last season to premiere: Season 1 — June 9, 2025 (US-first, Acorn TV; UK's U&Drama followed October 30, 2025)
US availability: Season 1 on Acorn TV (complete)
Next: Officially renewed by Acorn TV on July 28, 2026. A two-part special premieres on Acorn TV in December 2026 (exact date TBA), followed by a six-episode Season 2 in 2027. Production began in Belfast in July 2026, with Stephen Moyer, Nina Singh, and Larry Lamb all returning.

THE ASSASSIN

Last season to premiere: Season 1 — July 25, 2025 (UK, Prime Video)
US availability: Season 1 on AMC+ and Acorn TV
Next: Season 2 was officially commissioned by Prime Video on February 16, 2026, with Keeley Hawes, Freddie Highmore, Shalom Brune-Franklin, and Devon Terrell returning and Natalia Tena joining. Filming reportedly wrapped by late May 2026. No premiere date has been announced for the UK or US; 2027 is the general expectation.

THE BAY

Last season to premiere: Series 5 — February 2025 (US-first, BritBox; ITV1 followed in March 2025)
US availability: Seasons 1–5 on BritBox (complete). No BritBox date yet for Series 6.
Next: Series 6 was commissioned by ITV in November 2025 and began filming in Morecambe on May 21, 2026, with Marsha Thomason, Daniel Ryan, Andrew Dowbiggin, and Olwen May returning. No air date announced; 2027 is likely.

BERGERAC (2025 REBOOT)

Last season to premiere: Series 2 — April 16, 2026 (UK, U&Drama)
US availability: Season 1 landed as a full-season binge on PBS Passport and the PBS Masterpiece Prime Video channel on August 16, 2026 (via PBS Distribution — it's not a Masterpiece-branded series). Season 2 has no announced US date yet.
Next: Series 3 was confirmed in early August 2026 and started filming in Jersey the same month. Jason Flemyng, Tessa Peake-Jones, Lee Ingleby, and Georgia Tennant join the cast; Damien Molony, Zoë Wanamaker, and Robert Gilbert return. Due on U&Drama in 2027.

BETRAYAL

Last season to premiere: Series 1 — February 8, 2026 (UK, ITV1/ITVX). A four-part MI5 drama from Mammoth Screen starring Shaun Evans, Romola Garai, Nikki Amuka-Bird, and Omid Djalili.
US availability: Not yet available in the US. No distributor has been announced.
Next: No renewal announced. It was commissioned as a four-part series, and there's been no word on a second.

BEYOND PARADISE

Last season to premiere: Series 4 — March 27, 2026 (UK, BBC One), following the December 2025 Christmas special
US availability: Seasons 1–4 plus specials on BritBox (Season 4 premiered June 9, 2026; complete)
Next: Series 5 is confirmed and has been filming in Devon and Cornwall since July 2026, with Vincent Franklin's Chief Supt. James Smith now part of the cast. Expected on BBC One in 2027, likely US premiere soon after.

BLACK DOVES

Last season to premiere: Season 1 — December 5, 2024 (worldwide, Netflix)
US availability: Season 1 on Netflix. Season 2 drops in full on Thursday, November 5, 2026.
Next: Season 2 (six episodes) is dated November 5, 2026. Keira Knightley, Ben Whishaw, and Sarah Lancashire return, joined by Ambika Mod, Neve Campbell, Sam Riley, Babou Ceesay, Sylvia Hoeks, and Samuel Barnett. No Season 3 announced.

BLUE LIGHTS

Last season to premiere: Series 4 — September 29, 2026 (UK, BBC One, with the full box set on iPlayer the same day). Episodes air weekly through November 3, and Richard Dormer's Gerry Cliff returns in some form.
US availability: Seasons 1–3 on BritBox. Season 4 comes to BritBox on November 12th, 2026.
Next: No Series 5 announced. The BBC's 2024 order only covered series 3 and 4, so we're waiting to hear about a fresh commission.

BOOKISH

Last season to premiere: Series 2 — August 26, 2026 (UK, U&Alibi)
US availability: Season 1 on PBS Passport / PBS Masterpiece Prime Video channel. Season 2 has no US date yet (early 2027 is expected).
Next: Lots of good news here. On August 19, 2026, U&Alibi announced a two-part Christmas special, Bookish: The Crown of Destiny, already filmed and airing in December 2026, plus a full Series 3 for 2027 (filming due to start late 2026). Mark Gatiss and Polly Walker are both confirmed.

BRIDGERTON

Last season to premiere: Season 4 — January 29, 2026 (Part 1) and February 26, 2026 (Part 2) (worldwide, Netflix)
US availability: Seasons 1–4 on Netflix (complete)
Next: Seasons 5 and 6 are both renewed. Season 5 (Francesca and Michaela's story, led by Hannah Dodd and Masali Baduza) began filming March 24, 2026, and Netflix confirmed a 2027 release at its May 2026 upfront. Season 6 will center on Eloise (Claudia Jessie); the writers' room is already at work.

CALL THE MIDWIFE

Last season to premiere: Series 15 — January 4, 2026 (UK, BBC One), following the December 25, 2025 Christmas special.
US availability: Season 15 aired on PBS from March 22, 2026 (PBS Passport early release from February 20) and is complete. Seasons 1–15 also arrived on Netflix US on September 7, 2026.
Next: Series 16 is confirmed, but the show is taking a deliberate break — creator Heidi Thomas said in March 2026 it would be “a couple of years,” so expect it in late 2027 or 2028. In the meantime, a three-part WWII prequel, Call the Midwife: Sisters in Arms (filmed June–August 2026), replaces the usual 2026 Christmas special on BBC One, and the 1972-set feature film shoots in 2027. No US distributor has been announced for the prequel yet, though PBS is where we'd expect to see it.

THE CAPTURE

Last season to premiere: Series 3 — March 8, 2026 (UK, BBC One)
US availability: Seasons 1–3 on Peacock (Season 3 dropped in full June 18, 2026; complete)
Next: No renewal announced. Creator Ben Chanan told Radio Times he wrote Series 3 thinking it would be the last, though he added “never say never.” Treat this as likely finished unless the BBC says otherwise.

C.B. STRIKE (UK TITLE: “STRIKE”)

Last season to premiere: The Ink Black Heart (6th story) — December 16, 2024 (UK, BBC One)
US availability: All six stories so far are on HBO Max (The Ink Black Heart arrived January 23, 2025; complete)
Next: The Running Grave (7th story, five episodes) was filmed from autumn 2025, with guest stars John Lynch, Keeley Forsyth, and James Fleet. The BBC has only ever said “2026,” and with the year running out, no premiere date has been announced. In the past, they've often aired around Christmas. No HBO Max date either, and no word yet on adapting The Hallmarked Man.

THE CHELSEA DETECTIVE

Last season to premiere: Season 4 — August 3, 2026 (US/international-first, Acorn TV)
US availability: Seasons 1–4 on Acorn TV (Season 4 finale streamed August 24, 2026; complete)
Next: No renewal announced. Despite some unofficial sites claiming otherwise, neither Acorn TV nor co-producer ZDF has confirmed a Season 5, and we haven't seen any information about upcoming filming dates in cast/crew databases.

THE CLEANER

Last season to premiere: Series 3 — October 4, 2024 (UK, BBC One)
US availability: Seasons 1–3 on BritBox (complete)
Next: A one-off 60-minute Christmas special, filmed July 2026 in the UK and the Italian Dolomites with guest stars Robert Webb, Peter Serafinowicz, and Tori Allen-Martin, will air on BBC One “over the festive period” in 2026. No exact date, no US date, and no Series 4 commissioned.

CODE OF SILENCE

Last season to premiere: Series 1 — May 18, 2025 (UK, ITV1/ITVX)
US availability: Season 1 on BritBox (complete). BritBox co-produces Series 2 and says a date “will be announced later.”
Next: Series 2 was commissioned in July 2025, and ITV confirmed on August 24, 2026 that filming is underway. Rose Ayling-Ellis, Andrew Buchan, and John Bishop return, joined by Jonah Hauer-King, Jo Joyner, and Sophie McShera. No air date; 2027 is realistic.

COOPER & FRY

Last season to premiere: Series 1 — November 18, 2025 (UK, Channel 5). Four feature-length episodes adapting Stephen Booth's novels.
US availability: Season 1 on BritBox — all episodes dropped early for BritBox Premier subscribers on August 17, 2026, with the standard weekly rollout starting September 10, 2026 (now complete).
Next: Channel 5 recommissioned the show on July 14, 2026 for an expanded eight-episode Series 2 (adapting The Devil's Edge, Fall Down Dead, One Last Breath, and The Murder Road). Filming is underway, and it's set to air on Channel 5 in 2027. No BritBox date yet.

THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO

Last season to premiere: The eight-part Sam Claflin miniseries premiered at the Rome Film Festival on October 19, 2024, with its first broadcast on RTS 1 (Switzerland) December 15, 2024. The UK got it on U in August 2025.
US availability: PBS Masterpiece, March 22 – May 10, 2026 (all episodes on PBS Passport from early March; complete)
Next: None. This is a closed-ended adaptation of the full novel, with no Season 2 planned.

DALGLIESH

Last season to premiere: Series 3 — December 2, 2024 (US-first, Acorn TV; Channel 5 followed in the UK)
US availability: Seasons 1–3 on Acorn TV (complete)
Next: Series 4 was greenlit by Acorn TV on May 18, 2026, with Acorn now the sole producer after Channel 5 bowed out. Three stories set in 1982: “A Mind to Murder,” “Original Sin,” and a brand-new original mystery approved by the P.D. James estate. Bertie Carvel and Sam Swainsbury return. Expected on Acorn in 2027; no filming start or date announced.

DEAD & BURIED

Last season to premiere: Series 1 — September 2, 2024 (Ireland/UK, Virgin Media One and BBC Northern Ireland simultaneously)
US availability: Acorn TV, from May 4, 2026 (complete)
Next: No renewal announced. This was a four-part adaptation of a play, so it's likely it was always intended to be a miniseries.

DEATH IN PARADISE

Last season to premiere: Series 15 — January 30, 2026 (UK, BBC One), following the December 2025 Christmas special
US availability: Seasons 1–15 on BritBox (Season 15 premiered April 21, 2026; complete)
Next: The BBC announced on May 4, 2026 that the show is recommissioned for two further series (16 and 17, running through 2028) plus two Christmas specials. Series 16 has been filming in Guadeloupe since May 2026 with Don Gilet, Don Warrington, Shantol Jackson, Shaquille Ali-Yebuah, Catherine Garton, and Élizabeth Bourgine. No date yet for the 2026 Christmas special.

DEATH VALLEY

Last season to premiere: Series 2 — May 17, 2026 (UK, BBC One)
US availability: Season 1 on BritBox. Season 2 premieres on BritBox November 17, 2026, weekly through mid-December.
Next: No renewal announced so far, but it's still relatively early.

DEPT. Q

Last season to premiere: Season 1 — May 29, 2025 (worldwide, Netflix)
US availability: Season 1 on Netflix (complete)
Next: Season 2 was renewed in July 2025 and began a 20-week shoot in Edinburgh on July 13, 2026. Kelly Macdonald is not returning (a scheduling conflict), and James Corden joins as forensic psychologist Dr. Ben Smith. Matthew Goode, Alexej Manvelov, Leah Byrne, and Jamie Sives return. No release date; 2027 expected.

THE DEVIL'S HOUR

Last season to premiere: Season 2 — October 18, 2024 (worldwide, Prime Video)
US availability: Seasons 1–2 on Prime Video (complete)
Next: Season 3 — the final chapter of creator Tom Moran's planned trilogy — was filmed back-to-back with Season 2 in 2024, but Prime Video still hasn't announced a release date or trailer. There was speculation of an October 2026 premiere, but we've yet to see any official announcement.

DOCTOR WHO

Last season to premiere: The spin-off The War Between the Land and the Sea (five episodes) aired December 2025 (UK, BBC One). The last mainline episode was the Series 15 finale The Reality War, May 31, 2025 (BBC/Disney+).
US availability: The Ncuti Gatwa seasons (14–15) are on Disney+; older new episodes are on AMC+. The War Between the Land and the Sea has NOT streamed in the US — Disney+ missed its early-2026 window, and Russell Tovey has said it's coming in 2027 (unconfirmed by Disney).
Next: On hiatus. The BBC confirmed on June 10, 2026 that the 2026 Christmas special is cancelled and that Russell T Davies and Bad Wolf have exited. On September 17, 2026, the BBC opened a competitive tender for a new production partner (contract to be awarded around March 2027), targeting a return in 2028 or 2029. No showrunner, Doctor, or air date.

DOWN CEMETERY ROAD

Last season to premiere: Season 1 — October 29, 2025 (worldwide, Apple TV)
US availability: Season 1 on Apple TV (complete)
Next: Season 2 was officially renewed on December 12, 2025, with Emma Thompson and Ruth Wilson returning. Filming reportedly began in spring 2026. No premiere date; 2027 expected.

ELLIS (US TITLE: “INSPECTOR ELLIS”)

Last season to premiere: Series 2 — March 10, 2026 (UK, Channel 5)
US availability: Seasons 1–2 on Acorn TV (Season 2 premiered July 6, 2026; complete)
Next: No renewal announced. Neither Channel 5 nor Acorn has confirmed a Series 3.

FATHER BROWN

Last season to premiere: Series 13 — January 9, 2026 (UK, BBC One)
US availability: Seasons 1–13 on BritBox (Season 13 premiered February 3, 2026; complete)
Next: The BBC commissioned series 14 AND 15 on April 16, 2026. Series 14 filmed in the Cotswolds from April 2026 with Mark Williams, Tom Chambers, Claudie Blakley, John Burton, and Nancy Carroll, plus guests Bill Bailey and Clive Mantle, and is slated for “early 2027” on BBC One. No BritBox date yet, but it's usually not too far behind.

THE FORSYTES

Last season to premiere: Series 1 — October 20, 2025 (UK, Channel 5)
US availability: PBS Masterpiece, from March 22, 2026 (also PBS Passport; complete)
Next: Series 2 is already filmed and premieres on PBS Masterpiece in 2027, with Richard Rankin, Sarah Alexander, and Nia Ashi joining the cast. No Channel 5 date has been announced for Series 2 yet. Masterpiece also renewed the show for Series 3 on March 10, 2026, with filming from around May 2026.

THE GOLD

Last season to premiere: Series 2 — June 8, 2025 (UK, BBC One)
US availability: Season 1 on PBS Passport. Season 2 premieres on PBS Masterpiece Sunday, October 18, 2026 at 10/9c, with all six episodes available to binge on PBS Passport from premiere day.
Next: None. Creator Neil Forsyth always conceived this as a two-series show and has confirmed Series 2 is the last.

GRACE

Last season to premiere: Series 6 — March 29, 2026 (UK, ITV1/ITVX)
US availability: Seasons 1–5 on BritBox. Season 6 isn't in the US yet and has no announced BritBox date (early 2027 is expected).
Next: Series 7 was greenlit by ITV on April 22, 2026 — four films, including “When You Are Dead” and “Picture You Dead,” with John Simm, Richie Campbell, Zoë Tapper, Laura Elphinstone, and Brad Morrison returning. ITV says it will air in 2027.

GRANITE HARBOUR

Last season to premiere: Series 3 — July 23, 2026 (UK, BBC Scotland; BBC One from July 24)
US availability: Seasons 1–2 on BritBox. Series 3 has no announced BritBox date; it doesn't appear in the September–November lineups, so we're hoping for December or early 2027.
Next: No Series 4 announced (but no cancellation yet, either)

GRANTCHESTER

Last season to premiere: Season 11 (FINAL) — June 14, 2026 (US-first, PBS Masterpiece)
US availability: Seasons 1–11 on PBS Masterpiece / PBS Passport (Season 11 aired June 14 – August 2, 2026; complete)
Next: None — the series ended with Season 11.

THE HARDACRES

Last season to premiere: Series 2 — May 14, 2026 (UK, Channel 5)
US availability: Seasons 1–2 on BritBox (Season 2 premiered August 5, 2026; complete)
Next: No renewal announced yet. Ignore the aggregator/AI slop sites listing it as “renewed” — we've yet to see an official confirmation from Channel 5 or BritBox.

HARRY WILD

Last season to premiere: Season 5 — June 22, 2026 (US-first, Acorn TV), with Joe Lando joining as a new love interest
US availability: Seasons 1–5 on Acorn TV (complete)
Next: No renewal announced yet. Sometimes, Acorn TV is weirdly inconsistent about publicizing renewals – some get a huge announcement, others are totally silent until the new season is almost ready to air – so it's hard to know what to expect for this one.

HOPE STREET

Last season to premiere: Series 5 — October 27, 2025 (UK, BBC One Northern Ireland)
US availability: Seasons 1–5 on BritBox (Season 5 premiered March 5, 2026; complete). Seasons 1–4 are also on select PBS Passport stations.
Next: A feature film, One of Our Own: A Hope Street Film, filmed in County Down in summer 2026. It gets a limited cinema release in Northern Ireland, the UK, and Ireland in late 2026, then BBC One NI, then BritBox in the US (no dates). BBC NI described it as tying up “loose ends,” so the show's future beyond the film doesn't sound promising.

HOTEL PORTOFINO

Last season to premiere: Season 3 — April 25, 2024 (UK, BritBox UK); PBS Masterpiece followed July 14, 2024
US availability: Seasons 1–3 on PBS Masterpiece / PBS Passport (complete)
Next: Still in limbo. There's been no renewal and no cancellation, and PBS's last public comment was in September 2024. After two-plus years without an order, a fourth season looks increasingly unlikely (though some shows have come back after 5+ years, so you never know).

I, JACK WRIGHT

Last season to premiere: Series 1 — April 23, 2025 (UK, U&Alibi); the BBC acquired it and re-ran it on BBC One from July 12, 2026
US availability: Season 1 on BritBox (complete). Season 2 not yet in the US.
Next: Series 2 was confirmed by the BBC on March 4, 2026, moving the show to BBC One in the UK. Filming began spring 2026. Nikki Amuka-Bird, John Simm, Daniel Rigby, Ruby Ashbourne Serkis, and Harry Lloyd return, joined by Tom Austen and Zora Bishop. No air date; late 2026 or early 2027 expected.

INDUSTRY

Last season to premiere: Season 4 — January 11, 2026 (US-first, HBO; BBC iPlayer followed January 12)
US availability: Seasons 1–4 on HBO Max (complete)
Next: Season 5 was renewed on February 25, 2026 and confirmed as the FINAL season. Filming began in August 2026 in the UK with Myha'la, Marisa Abela, and Kit Harington returning, plus new cast including Zosia Mamet, Dianna Agron, Cary Elwes, Sam Riley, and Jessica Brown Findlay. No premiere date.

IRISH BLOOD

Last season to premiere: Season 1 — August 11, 2025 (US-first, Acorn TV; Sky Witness in the UK/Ireland followed December 14, 2025)
US availability: Season 1 on Acorn TV (complete)
Next: Season 2 was renewed on September 8, 2025, and production began in Dublin in late May 2026, with Alicia Silverstone, Ruth Codd, Jason O'Mara, and Simone Kirby returning. Acorn says the premiere date “will be announced later.”

KAREN PIRIE

Last season to premiere: Series 2 — July 20, 2025 (UK, ITV1/ITVX)
US availability: Seasons 1–2 on BritBox (Season 2 premiered October 2025; complete)
Next: On October 12th, ITV announced that a third season was in the works, with filming set to begin in 2027. It's a longer wait than most of us would like, of course, but it's good to know something's coming.

LINE OF DUTY

Last season to premiere: Series 6 — March 21, 2021 (UK, BBC One)
US availability: Seasons 1–6 on BritBox (complete). BritBox holds US rights for Series 7.
Next: Series 7 is confirmed and filmed in Belfast from March 2026. Martin Compston, Vicky McClure, and Adrian Dunbar return, joined by Mark Bonnar, Owen Teale, Robert Carlyle, Laura Aikman, and Tom Weston-Jones (as DI Dominic Gough), among others. The BBC says 2027; no specific date for the UK or BritBox.

LUDWIG

Last season to premiere: Series 2 — August 20, 2026 (UK, BBC One), with Ben Ashenden, Rumi Sutton, Mark Bonnar, Sian Clifford, and Stephen Merchant joining David Mitchell and Anna Maxwell Martin
US availability: Season 1 on BritBox. Season 2 premieres on BritBox Tuesday, October 13, 2026 (weekly for standard subscribers; BritBox Premier gets early access).
Next: Series 3 was ordered by the BBC on July 8, 2026 — before Series 2 even aired. No filming or air dates yet.

LYNLEY (2025 REBOOT)

Last season to premiere: Season 1 — September 4, 2025 (US-first, BritBox; BBC One followed January 5, 2026)
US availability: Season 1 on BritBox (complete)
Next: Season 2 was announced March 30, 2026 with production already underway in Dublin. It's expanded to eight 45-minute episodes on BritBox (four 90-minute films on BBC One). Leo Suter, Sofia Barclay, Daniel Mays, and Michael Workeye return; Deirdre Mullins, Sara Stewart, and Assad Zaman join. Premiere date “to be announced.”

THE MADAME BLANC MYSTERIES

Last season to premiere: Two-part Christmas special — December 15 and 22, 2025 (US-first, Acorn TV; Channel 5 aired it December 23, 2025). Series 4 proper premiered on Acorn TV July 7, 2025.
US availability: Seasons 1–4 plus all Christmas specials on Acorn TV (complete). Season 5 not yet in the US.
Next: Series 5 (seven episodes) was confirmed by Channel 5 on May 12, 2026, filming in Gozo and Malta from May 2026, with Sally Lindsay, Steve Edge, Sue Vincent, Robin Askwith, and Sue Holderness returning and guest stars including Tony Robinson and Paul Chuckle. Channel 5 says “later in 2026”; Acorn hasn't announced a US date.

MAGPIE MURDERS / MOONFLOWER MURDERS / MARBLE HALL MURDERS

Last season to premiere: Marble Hall Murders (the third and final Susan Ryeland mystery) — September 6, 2026 (US-first, PBS Masterpiece). The BBC has only said it will air in the UK “in 2026”; no date yet.
US availability: All three series on PBS Masterpiece / PBS Passport. Marble Hall Murders airs weekly through the finale this Sunday, October 11, 2026.
Next: None — Marble Hall Murders is the conclusion of the trilogy, and no further Susan Ryeland series has been announced. It's worth mentioning, though, that while author Anthony Horowitz had previously said Marble Hall Murders would be the last book in the series, he's recently mentioned a possible fourth entry, Mile End Murders. In a recent Reddit AMA, he mentioned he would likely start it in a year or two.

MAIGRET (2025 CONTEMPORARY VERSION)

Last season to premiere: Season 1 — October 5, 2025 (US-first, PBS Masterpiece). No UK broadcaster has been announced for either season.
US availability: Season 1 on PBS Passport / PBS Masterpiece Prime Video channel. Season 2 premieres Sunday, October 18, 2026 at 9/8c on PBS, weekly through November 22, with all episodes on PBS Passport from premiere day.
Next: Season 2 (filmed in Budapest, with Nathaniel Parker and Alex Bhat joining) adapts “The Hanged Man of Saint-Pholien,” “Maigret's Revolver,” and “The Yellow Dog.” No Season 3 announced yet.

THE MALLORCA FILES

Last season to premiere: Season 3 — August 8, 2024 (worldwide, Prime Video)
US availability: Season 3 on Prime Video; Seasons 1–2 on BritBox (complete)
Next: No renewal announced. Amazon was reportedly “pondering” a fourth series in late 2024 amid a fan petition, but nothing official has surfaced in 2025 or 2026. In limbo.

MARIE ANTOINETTE

Last season to premiere: Season 2 — March 23, 2025 (US-first, PBS Masterpiece; BBC Two followed May 8, 2025)
US availability: Seasons 1–2 on PBS Passport / PBS Masterpiece Prime Video channel (complete)
Next: No renewal announced so far. Canal+ hasn't greenlit a third season, though the producers reportedly pitched it as a three-season story.

THE MARLOW MURDER CLUB

Last season to premiere: Series 3 — March 18, 2026 (UK, U&Drama)
US availability: Seasons 1–3 on PBS Masterpiece / PBS Passport (Season 3 premiered September 6, 2026, with all episodes on Passport from day one)
Next: Season 4 was commissioned on June 2, 2026 by PBS Masterpiece and UKTV, with filming planned in Marlow for summer 2026. Samantha Bond, Jo Martin, Cara Horgan, and Natalie Dew all return. Expected in 2027.

MCDONALD & DODDS

Last season to premiere: Series 4 — March 20, 2024 (Denmark-first; BritBox US from May 23, 2024; ITV1 from July 21, 2024)
US availability: Seasons 1–4 on BritBox (complete)
Next: Cancelled. ITV confirmed in January 2025 that Series 4 “didn't meet the threshold for a recommission.” We'd love to see this one picked up by someone else or overturned by new employees, but it's not looking good.

MIDSOMER MURDERS

Last season to premiere: Series 25 — December 8, 2025 (US-first, Acorn TV). The UK has been treated abysmally with respect to new seasons lately, and they often lag behind by a year or more.
US availability: Series 25 (and earlier) on Acorn TV (complete)
Next: Series 26 (four episodes) was commissioned by ITV on October 13, 2025 and was filming as of March 2026, with Neil Dudgeon, Nick Hendrix, Fiona Dolman, Annette Badland, and Isabel Shaw returning. No premiere date announced; late 2026 on Acorn is a reasonable guess based on past patterns, but again – there's been no official announcement.

MISS SCARLET (FKA MISS SCARLET & THE DUKE)

Last season to premiere: Season 6 — December 7, 2025 (US-first, PBS Passport; PBS broadcast from January 11, 2026)

No filming start or date; 2027–2028 is speculation.

Next: Series 6 is reportedly filming — director Dries Vos said it would shoot in 2026, and Belgian broadcaster VRT reported in May 2026 that it was in production in Flanders and Cambridge. We haven't seen a formal ITV announcement or any premiere date.

The BBC says “later this year” — November 2026 is widely expected but not confirmed — with BritBox likely in late 2026/early 2027. Alison O'Donnell announced on June 12, 2026 that Series 11 is her last as Tosh. It has been renewed for Season 12, but without either of the original main characters, it will likely feel very different from the original series many fell in love with.

US availability: Both seasons on BritBox — Season 1 dropped September 3, 2026, and Season 2 premiered September 24, 2026, airing weekly through the end of October.
Next: No Series 3 commissioned. The BBC never ordered a third run, and each series is a standalone case anyway. That could still change, of course, but it's not looking promising.

US availability: Seasons 1–2 on BritBox. Season 3 premieres on BritBox Thursday, October 22, 2026, weekly into early November.

TOMMY & TUPPENCE (AGATHA CHRISTIE'S)

US availability: Seasons 1–6 on PBS Masterpiece / PBS Passport (Season 6 aired August 24 – September 28, 2025; complete)
Next: Series 7 began filming January 26, 2026, with guest cast led by Sophie Rundle, Julian Rhind-Tutt, Jo Hartley, and Paul Kaye. No premiere date; ITV in early 2027 and PBS later in 2027 is the expectation.

VAN DER VALK

Last season to premiere: Series 4 — September 15, 2024 (US-first, PBS Masterpiece). ITV finally aired it in the UK on August 2, 9, and 16, 2026 — nearly two years later.
US availability: Seasons 1–4 on PBS Masterpiece / PBS Passport (complete)
Next: No renewal announced. In August 2026, Marc Warren said “these things are out of our control” and that he'd love to do more. ITV hasn't announced a Series 5 or a cancellation, but it hasn't been *too* long since it finally aired in the UK, so you never know.

VERA

Last season to premiere: Series 14 (FINAL) — January 1, 2025 (UK, ITV1)
US availability: All 14 seasons on BritBox (complete)

WHITSTABLE PEARL

Last season to premiere: Season 3 — October 21, 2024 (US-first, Acorn TV)
US availability: Seasons 1–3 on Acorn TV (complete)
Next: Cancelled. In July 2026, Acorn TV confirmed there will be no fourth series, and author Julie Wassmer confirmed it separately. Kerry Godliman has moved on to ITV's upcoming female Dalziel and Pascoe reboot. There are plenty of books in the series if you're curious how the author continued things, though.
