If you've been waiting for news about season 4 of Beyond Paradise, you're in luck – because new episodes are coming soon.
What is Beyond Paradise about?
For newer viewers not familiar with the series, Beyond Paradise follows DI Humphrey Goodman after his move to the gorgeous Devon town of Shipton Abbott. A spin-off from Death in Paradise, the series mixes quirky investigations with the day-to-day lives of Humphrey, Martha, and the local police team. Compared to its parent show, Beyond Paradise has generally focused more on lower-level crimes, village disputes, and unusual local mysteries, even if darker cases sometimes break through.
What's HAppening in Season 4?
The official synopsis suggests that season 4 will continue the show's signature blend of odd and unsettling crimes against an almost too beautiful coastal backdrop. This time, Humphrey and the team investigate the death of a novelist who'd predicted it in advance, a night of Dark Morris that goes badly wrong, a stolen treasure map that suddenly resurfaces, and reports of a vengeful mermaid out at sea.
The trailer also hints at a possible murder case, which would stand out in a series that often leans less heavily on homicide than many other British crime dramas. At the same time, Humphrey and Martha are adjusting to married life after the 2025 Christmas special, and begin looking for a more permanent home. That personal shift seems to run alongside a professional one, as Humphrey faces what is described as an impossible decision that could affect everyone at the station.
What changes in season 4?
One of the biggest developments is inside the police station. The trailer introduces Vincent Franklin’s character, who tells Humphrey that the force is downsizing and that he will have to choose who to lose from the team. That puts pressure on Humphrey in a way the series has not really explored before, forcing him into a managerial decision rather than simply an investigative one.
Season 4 also begins after the departure of Humphrey’s former superior, CS Charlie Woods, played by Jade Harrison, who has transferred to another division. That leaves Humphrey under new management, and early comments from Kris Marshall suggest this new superior will be a difficult presence rather than a supportive one. In practical terms, the season appears to be reshaping the station dynamic at the same time as it moves Humphrey and Martha into a new phase of married life.
Who’s in the cast?
Kris Marshall returns as Humphrey Goodman, with Sally Bretton back as Martha Lloyd. Zahra Ahmadi returns as Esther Williams, Dylan Llewellyn as Kelby Hartford, and Felicity Montagu as Margo Martins.
The new trailer also spotlights Vincent Franklin as Humphrey’s new superior. Guest stars this season include Melanie Walters (Gavin & Stacey), Colin McFarlane (The War Between the Land and the Sea), and Phil Daniels (EastEnders), who returns as fisherman Marvellous Harris from season 1.
